Who has the best deal going on a 2-7 or 3-9 for under $150? I can't justify spending more than that at this time...it's going on a TC Venture compact
There is nothing at that price (MSRP) that I'd recommend at all. $50 makes a huge difference, there are several $200 scopes that I'd not be concerned about at all. My top pick is the Burris FF-II in that range. But the Redfield Revolution, Vortex and Leupold VX-1 are good too.

If an extra $50 is out of the question I'd be looking at one of those used. At times some of those are discounted, but I'm not aware of any discounts at this time.
Cabela's has the Burris fulfield 2-7x35 going for $159 right now. I think that would be an excellent fit on a compact rifle.
Weaver Classic K4...only thing I can think of in that price range worth owning(and I own 5 of them) now that they have discontinued the V9...
Go to Ebay and look at Buy it now for the Leupold VX1 3-9x40,get one with click adjustments.

You can pick one up for about ?175.00 shipped right now.

If you want to bid on one for auction you MAY be able to pick one up for a $150.00 or so.

Great scopes

Looking under recent sold listings under the advanced tab I see one sold a couple of days ago for $132.50 !
I've put my Zen Ray binos up for trade so maybe something will come up there. Usually there is a screaming deal floating around so if someone has a line on something and feels like sharing it would be greatly appreciated.

I've ran plenty of Burris scopes and they do well for the price. My gripe with the 2-7 is the 1/2" clicks. Seems like I saw the old Bushnell Elite 3200 line on sale somewhere cheap but I can't recall where

A problem that I've seen with Leupolds on eBay is the confusion between the VX-I and VX-1. I recommend asking any eBay seller for the serial number suffix to insure that you're actually buying the newer style of scope with better optics. Look for the X, Y, Z, AA suffix for a VX-1.
Burris FFII 2-7

Great scope for the $$$

Getting the product number 113874 and made in 2015 will insure you get The VX-1
I've got a Weaver Classic V 2.5-7x32 in very good condition I'd let go for $125.

True, however since the product number isn't on the scope itself, that assumes that the seller has the box and not everybody out there keeps the boxes for potential resale. Knowing the serial number prefix or suffix is a sure way to date a Leupold.

This is technically true as well However IF the seller is Advertising a scope as Brand new 2015 with the product code 113874 the scope should be in the box unopened unless noted by seller.
If not then fraud is being committed by the seller.

I was speaking to Leupold scopes as a whole, not a specific seller and item.

IMO, because of it relative anonymity, buying anything via eBay is a "Caveat Emptor" environment which is exacerbated by Leupold's VX-I change to VX-1 naming protocol.
What the others said about ebay and the VX1. I got one of the newer ones, in the box, sealed, for a little over $160 on ebay. It came from a sporting goods store in West Va. Well worth the money.
I saw a NIB Burris FFII 3-9x40 with BP on ebay for about $160 I believe. Those are quite good and I was happy with the one I had. No experience with the 2-7x but if anything like the 3-9 I wouldn't mind having one.
The new model Nikon Buckmaster II is well under $150. It looks like the original Prostaff or the scope that comes with the Savage package gun.

I have seen it $10 cheaper at Cabelas.
Opinions, at this price point, on the Minox ZV3 open box units, 3-9x40 and 3-9x50mm from Cameraland for $140?
