For the first time since I have been comparing optics I looked through a Vortex that was about as clear as my Bushnell 6500 4 1/2-30X50 with both on 20X. That's its maximum magnification. It is a Vortex Razor with a 35mm tube. I think it starts at 4X or 5X. I didn't get a chance to thoroughly adjust the ocular, but did get to adjust the side focus. But even if I was allowed to adjust it to my heart's satisfaction, it still only goes to 20X.

When I put mine on 30X I could read the word "official" on a target 100 yards away. The letters are less than 1/4" tall and the spaces are about .025". I continually get post sold on my choice.

Well played!

Blacktailer,

There should have been a comma after "New experienced". Sorry 'bout that.

What scope is that? I wonder how much they go for?

It's got to be a Konus.

Savage_99,

I purchased one a couple months ago for $685. I saved $150 by spending about an hour on the net going from "store" to "store". At my income level $150 is a chunk of change.

So far, I've learned the context in which to use the term "Lickspittle".

Great exchange in a movie:

Cruella De Vil: What kind of sycophant are you?

Frederick: Uh, what kind of sycophant would you like me to be?

The optics on this one look like they'd be really good from the pic. The price is reassuring that the optics would be stellar. I wonder how it would hold zero on a cold bore two shot group as that is the true way to check hunting accuracy.

You lost me at "New experienced".
Posted By: Ringman Re: New experienced toady! - 05/25/16
The New experience was I never saw a Vortex with glass as good as my Bushnell 6500 4 1/2_30X50.

I missed this the first time through. Thanks for pointing it out.

And in a sentence...
The fawning lickspittle was Harry Potter's favorite sycophant.

I believe we're discussing Grover Dill from A Christmas Story.

You missed the point. You posted experienced. Now you state experience...

Oh darn. I thought maybe you "discovered" spotting scopes and were going to quit using your over-powered rifle scopes to glass with.

Guess my expectations were just too high.

Carry on.

Going out it for a Friday beer and wings with the wife. I will use the term lickspittle to describe a douche at work. Very cathartic. Thanks.

Terryk,

Can you make out his detail with a Vortex?
