Anybody stumble on something you like? Was thinking of putting a 1x4 on a 30-06 and I ain't found what I am looking for yet. The plain jane weaver ain't got enough slots, and some of the tactical canted bases just too too thick.
Weaver makes a picatinny rail that is the shortest that I've found.
The steel nightforce picatinny base is lower profile and has a recoil lug for added strength. That paired with some good low or extra low rings would be perfect.

Warne picatinny bases are low also but dot have recoil lugs.

The weaver picatinny bases are "ok". They seem soft though and the finish isn't as tough as other quality aluminum bases.
US Optics makes a good one that is low and hard.
So Bob do you need one with any slope built in or just a flat base?
If picatinny isn't absolutely needed, DNZ is probably the strongest low mount you can get, with the base and bottom half of the rings all one piece.

I have one I'm not using, so if you decide on it, let me know and I'll give you a great deal on it.

I've been using EGW for a while.

The IOR rail is about as low as can be made. I use these on SA Winchesters and really like them.
The weaver extended picatinny base is pretty dang low, and only $32 shipped...
