I have a decent lightweight tripod, but need an adapter for my 8x42mm Vortex Talon HD binoculars.

Are such adapters sold in a more or less generic configuration capable of giving a stable hold, or are they sized according to the tube diameter of my particular binoculars?

Can anyone recommend a source? I suppose I'd need a pan head as well?

Just contemplating a more glass-intensive hunt in the next couple of years and shopping necessary equipment.

Thanks a lot,

efw
Not sure if the Vortex can be fitted for the Outdoorsmans stud, but if so, I'd go that route. Pretty good set up.
Not sure if this is what you are looking for or not.

Wow that's it man thanks I appreciate it!

I would get a Bog-Pod bino rest, these are a fully
cradled mount.
They will handle any roof prism binocular.

The other mount I like is the Berlebach, a full cradle
mount and will handle any binocular including the porro
prism types.

Both of these are well recommended, check these out before buying a stud mount, as those are not as stable.

I have used the Vortex adapter and they work great, they can be had for $20 and are narrow so they fit most all binoculars.

Only thing I found better was Swarovski's but they run $158!

I have this set-up, it's just the Minox flavor.

It works, but barely. There is just no way to provide optimal, or even good, with the physics of this design. It wiggles a lot, and the attachment screw needs frequent attention. Wind beats it badly.

It is vastly better than nothing, light, and cheap. Advantages stop there.

I've spent a lot of hours driving this setup on 15s. Lighter binocs would fare better.

I've used a few systems, I very much prefer the outdoorsmans stud system that highbean recommended. Have used the bogpod with the rubber strap, it works well enough. I dont really care for the vortex adapter that relies on gravity to hold the binos on.
My preference is the Outdoorsman stud. Second choice is the Vortex uni-daptor at this link:

It is much better than the other Vortex unit linked in other posts above. If you go this route, don't use the uni-dapter base, just screw it to the tripod plate.
The fully mounted flat based models I mentioned above
are better than a stud type. If you are looking for
stability.
Agree with Farmboy. The Bog Pod universal is really good, really solid.
Been using this one for several years. It's SOLID, and works well.

Jordan, do you use this product with 15s?
I use this with my Minox HG 8x56 Binocular. I'm very happy with it.

Also vortex, but different QR design.

No, although I have no doubt it would work fine. I plan to get into some big eyes in the future, and will use this adapter with them.
Get an adapter and screw your tripod quick mount to it.
