I've got a Rem 700 in 338 Win Mag. and I'm wanting to use a Warne "Mountain Tech" aluminum rail with the Warne fixed steel rings, to mount a Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40.

Is there any issue with using the steel rings on top of the aluminum rail?

I use the these same Warne rings for everything, but normally I just go with the steel two piece bases. However in this case I'd like to have the rail so I can have more adjustment in the positioning of the scope.

I know Warne also makes a quality steel rail but the price doesn't agree with my budget. I did send a message to Warne asking the same question but haven't heard back yet. So I'd be interested to hear opinions from people on here, and possibly what might be a better option, if there are any.

Looking to spend $100 or less for both the base and the rings.

Weaver makes a decent rail , with recoil lug ........ will run you less than the Warne

add weaver 4 hole rings and you got a pretty solid setup for less than $100

Thank you, guys. I did look into the Weaver rail. That was a good suggestion but I ended up finding both the Warne rail and the Warne rings on eBay, and ordered both. Total was $75. I also received an email from Corey at Warne and he said their steel rings on their aluminum rail wouldn't be a problem.

What height and tube dia.?

Not fixed, but very high quality aluminum. They only make them 1" and Med.

Zeiss branded aluminum Warne style rings are also available.

I haven't said it yet, but as my posts might imply, I prefer to not mount steel rings to Aluminum Weaver or Picatinny bases. I've got no issues with the inverse.

That said, watch your torque settings and you'll be fine.

The Tru Tac and the Zeiss rings both look like good options. I'll keep those in mind for next time.

I ordered the low Warne fixed rings. My scope is a 3-9x40 (1" tube) so there won't be a lot of extra room but I'm hoping it will work. The Warne lows are more like mediums in most other brands.

I'll be sure to be careful and use the proper torque on all screws!

I mount Warne steel rings on aluminum EGW bases frequently and have never had an issue. If you call Warne instead of Email you will get prompt service.

They were actually pretty quick getting back to me. I sent the message Sunday afternoon, and I got an email reply from Warne at 11:43 Monday morning.
