I keep reading about efforts to require background checks on Internet sales of guns. I've bought several guns right here on the Fire in the Free Classifieds forum and each and every time the sale has been through a FFL. What's the story?
If the purchase was local you could avoid the FFL.
IMHO, these laws are targeted against Craig's List, Arms List, and other less regulated websites with a history of scams and stolen property. Felons, and others, can purchase without a flag on the background issues, if the sale is local, or seller if is willing/desperate to make a sale.

While we fall in the same catagory of Internet sales in our Classified on the Fire, most buyers on here expect an FFL transfer required to complete a purchase. In-state is usually a FTF sale, hopefully with a Bill of Sale and ID, but you never know.
