Bought this mold from a forum member here (thanks Pete!). It arrived today and I enjoyed casting with it. A 4-cavity brass mold, Keith style bullet.
Alloy today was again the 3:1 lead:lino.
Now why couldn’t I make them look that good! Nice work Dan!
Beginner's luck here, Pete! Real nice mold, thanks again
Wish I could make bullets look that good!!
Sometime in the next year, I think I’m going to wind up with an Arsenal .358-160RF. The Lee version is okay, but the bevel base annoys me.
Looks like a Phil Sharpe H&G 51; good 357 Mag bullet that fits all guns so chambered.
Hawk,
Thanks for that springboard. I have worlds to learn and appreciate the input.
That said, does this bullet not look similar to the Ideal 358477?
Dan
Those look great! You’re lucky to have some Lino. Don’t see it around much.
Looks very much like the RCBS 38-150KT. Very good bullet design IMO. I was just a little late or you’d be seeing my pics with bullets from that mold. Good snag. 😉
Sorry, no experience with the Lyman so I giggled it.
Yep, pretty similar to that one and the RCBS The Kid mentioned.
All are VERY similar to the H&G 51, which is a shortened nose, shortened front band variation of the 358429 Keith bullet.
-Keith wasn't happy about the Sharpe bullet, but it did make a fine alternative for the then new .357 Magnum!
Having a semi custom like the Arsenal should throw a more usable diameter bullet with common alloys of today.
I rely on a H&G 51 for my .38/.357 SWC's. An all-time great design no matter who makes the clone, and no matter who designed it or maligned it. My go-to alloy is 1:20 tin:lead for pretty much all .38 loads. My pile of linotype is getting a pretty heavy coating of dust!
The 5 hole Arsenal gang mold cut for the 358429 they make is the tits. Mb

Just took a look at that and yeah, very nice looking. The three equal width bands..
That mold is the tits. They just drop out once it's up to temp. Man you can make a pile in a hurry
