I was at the range and shot some wadcutters I had loaded to 900 fps in my 642 S&W. Lyman #358495 cast from #2 alloy. I used Javelina bullet lube and when I fired off five rounds fast there was so much smoke I couldn't see the target after four rounds?
Maybe it will be a good home defense load. I can empty the revolver and duck behind the cloud while reloading.

lol

change lube.... smile

speed greed would work well for you.
I've had good luck with White Label Lubes, either their BAC or the Carnuba Red. Both seem to smoke little and have worked for me in 800fps 44 loads up to 1800fps 8x57 Mauser. The Carnuba Red needs a little heat in the sizer, the BAC you can get away with cold-although it does work better with a little heat for me.

Try just lubing one groove on this bullet. At wad cutter speeds you dont need all that lube. Shouldn't affect accuracy either.

That lube is a 50/50 mix of alox and beeswax and has always been very smokey. Try using Hodgdon Clays and the BAC lube from White Label. Your problem will go away.
