I have had good initial sucess with a .359" mold from Mountain Molds in my .35 Whelen Imp. The bullets are droping at 272 gr and are H2O quenched WW. Red Dot has been giving me consistently accurate loads in the 1100- 1350 fps range. I have just ordered a heater for my luber sizer along with some harder lube. Does anyone have info re loads in the 2000- 2200 fps range?
Thanks, 2nd wind
I load cast bullets for 282 grains for my 35 Whelen. If I can remember, I will look up and see what I have for reloading info. on them.
I've heard of folks using 40 gr of RL15 with the Lyman 358009, which is a ~280 gr bullet. I've used 44 gr in my 350 Rigby, and shot a 1" 5 shot group at 100 yds. Trouble is that load was developed with CCI 200 primers, which I subsequently found will hang fire in low temps <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> I tried CCI 250's and Federal 215's, and ignition was fine, but the groups opened up. Next plan of attack will be finding a combo that will ignite reliably and still group tight.

in the 35 Whelen
SR4759 25.6-31.6 grs 1968 fps
IMR3031 39-48.5 grs 2349 fps
IMR 4227 24-28 grs 1825 fps
IMR 4198 30-40 grs 2154 fps
These are loads taken from the LYMAN manual with their 358009 mold which weighs 286 grs when I cast them with #2 alloy. You might be able to work up about 5% if everything looks good. Have Fun!
