I have a box of .411 Missouri Bullet Co 215-gr cast Keith-style bullets and just ordered 500 .411 Dardas Cast Bullets for my two 41 Mag Blackhawks. I think I've settled on H110 as my powder, but wanted to see what other favorite loads folks had. Nothing that's going to be punishing, because the wife has one also. She may be a better shot than me, but isn't as stout as it concerns recoil in a hand-cannon.

What's out there for good loads?

My Blackhawk and smith 58 liked 2400 with standard primers with cast bullets. My contender liked unique for reduced loads. I don't recall exact charges. But the contender thrived on 110 with jacketed bullets, but for some reason that combo didn't work with cast.

8 grs CFE Pistol, std. cap and a 412429 224gr. cast SWC.

I have liked Unique for mid-range loads, 800-X for faster loads with the Lyman 410429. I've shot my fair share of H110 with this bullet too, but I prefer the flake powders mentioned. HS-6 is another powder that I'm starting to like more and more in pistol cartridges; that's another one to consider though I haven't run any in my 41.

I use 8gr Unique powder for moderate loads using 215gr cast bullets.

I'd reserve the H110 powder for max or near max loads using jacketed bullets or heavy (250gr & up) cast bullets.

2400 powder falls in between those 2 for me.

I tried some Accurate 4100 in my .44 mag Blackhawk shooting a Lyman 429421, and the results were outstanding. It's a stout load, but not punishing. I have yet to try it in either of my .41s (Lyman 410610) but I will get to it one of these days. I expect equally gratifying accuracy. I think it's a better powder than 2400 in magnum revolvers.

Longshot has worked exceptionally well for me in the 41.
I have some 215's that I cast that shoot well from my Smith and my Bisley. The weight and design just didn't make me feel warm and fuzzy. So I got one of the NOE 237 Keith style. It shoots excellent.
Longshot,unique,2400,H110/296, HS6 and HS7 are few of what I have tried thus far.

7.5 grains of Unique with a cast H&G 215 Keith at about 12 bhn is quite useful for just about anything that comes your way.

i have fired from 180 grain cast to 300 grain cast in 41's.
using unique, accurate, 2400, and 231.
and all around powder for most anything would have to be unique. and i might add 7.5 to 8 grains. More powder if you want higher velocity.
but 8grains seems to fire just about everything.

My Titantium Tracker can get a little unpleasant - even with aftermarket grips - if pushed too fast, but I didn't want to go under 1000 fps.

With the short barrel, porting makes it about 3 1/2 inches, published data isn't much help. I broke out my chrono and tried Lilgun, H 110, CFE.... , all with the 215 gr cast bullets I get from Bob Haley.

I settled on 7.3 grains of Unique which gives me 1050 fps with really small E.S.

I've become a fan of Trail Boss in just about anything. It makes a pleasant and accurate plinking round.
