as in at Plains, Montana or as in plains Montana, the flat side of the state?

either way have heard the west side has done better than the east as far as hardship on critters.....northeast part of the state seems to have had it the worst of anywhere.....gonna be very happy when this winter is behind us.....

I'm in Kalispell, it's been a relatively normal winter for the most part. We did get a early cold snap in November (-20 -> -30) in the area. Wolves are a problem in the area and who knows what spring will bring. Deer numbers have been down the past couple of years across the NW. Elk calve numbers seemed low last year.

Plains is S/W of the Flathead and has it's own milder micro climate.

Its so hard to tell for sure. The weather is so drastically different in each of the small towns here in NW MT. Plains on average is drier, the game should be good to go over there. We were doing pretty good here in Kalispell, snow has been piling up here in the past couple weeks though, and now we are getting blasted again. March is always the make or break, it seems, if its warm, those animals that are on the edge can make it, if it cold with a bunch of snow, it will get em, straight weather, predators aside.
Its crazy up here. Eureka got 15 inches yesterday, and I didn't get a flake here in Kalispell.
