UT DNR news release

This guy hunts on both sides of the UT-CO boarder in the Book Cliffs and had built quite a rep on places like The Hunting Report for getting one and sometimes two big cats on the same hunt (one in each state).

Unfortunately, it turns out he (and his guides) were trapping and/or maiming the cats prior to the client's arrival.....

Based on the aformentioned positive reports, I'd considered contacting him -- and am now quite glad I didn't (!)
Wow..... I know Chris. Grew up with, and rodeo'd with him. This floors me, as I know him as an honorable outfitter.
yeah, he's been on my "short list" for a lion hunt for several years (again, based on prior reputation/reports).

based on what they are reported to have plead to, it seem serious time might be on the table.....
I'll be darned. I've met Chris several times over the years. He had a sterling rep, and then 2-3 years ago I listened to another houndsman complain something was up with Chris. I chalked it up to typical talk from the competition.........

most of the positive reviews I'd read about his outfit were from the 2000-2005 era -- and the indictment covers 2007-2010. I don't know the man, but he wouldn't be the first businessman so succumb to pressure to maintain his market share....

frown

his age is wrong in the article......
Sad to hear reports like this, especially with so many who think/have thought highly of someone.

Want to add my welcome too.
Good for the DNR guys. Those fools need to go away for awhile. What a low-life thing to do.

Loncarich conspired with others to provide numerous illegal hunts of mountain lions and bobcats in Colorado and Utah from 2007 to 2010. In particular, Loncarich and his confederates trapped, shot and caged mountain lions and bobcats prior to hunts in order to provide easier chases of the cats for clients.

The OP's is a truly unfortunate story.
In the criminal sense a conspiracy only requires that two or more people decide to do something illegal and at least one of them performs at least one act to carry that plan forward. It doesn't take much necessarily.
Just an explanation, not a position statement. If he did what was alleged, screw him. I too used to think quite highly of him.
