He asked me to post this for him.....WOW! What a dandy!
I want to make sure he wants the pic on here. Edited...
Nice, looks like a baren place, where was he when he shot it?
This thing is gorgeous!!
Wow! What a critter
Scenar - many thanks for posting. growing up in az i called in my first coyote at age 10 and a half. over 250 killed. dreamed of hunting wyo, mont, idaho for wolf. ect. saved . s put in for points instead of tags last couple years in az. booked a hunt in NWT canada. hunted 6+ days. i harvested this wolf. the Sako 30-06 mannlicher (1969) w 3-9 swaro. 167 scenars. very , very cold, cold. -37. i was worried the gun would not work. worked good, my buddy missed a big one with 300 wm; but bagged a female with the 30-06. wolf killer sako. thanks . roninflag
many ask how much it weighed. not sure it felt like between 11 and 12 pounds i was excited., i weigh 205. ron
That's a beautiful wolf. When was it taken?
Wow that thing is awesome...
That is uber sweet!
A big-ass wolf like that would be in my top 5 for world-wide trophies.
Cool! Thanks for sharing
Dale
Very cool. Is that color phase very common up there?
scorpion- 8 days ago, up near the arctic circle. ron
Amazing! That thing is 1 in a million! Congrats and thanks for sharing with us!
What an amazing trophy. I would definitely go with a full mount on that one!
That is amazing. Getting a wolf is my last hunting goal and I am considering Canada after 4 years of failure in Idaho. -37!. I think I will do Jan.-Feb. hunt this year in Idaho/Montana to get a reality check before booking.
Ronin, congratulations and would you recommend an outfitter please?

Dang Pat thanks for posting that's a lovely trophy!
You bet! I'd love to get one that color with that quality of fur someday. I've taken greys, and the black phase, but one that white is very rare around here.
Absolutely beautiful! Congrats.
How did you hunt wolves in that part of the world? I'd love to read the tale.
Now that is just downright NICE!
It is my perhaps erroneous understanding white wolves are common in some parts of the far north Canadian Arctic - Baffin and Ellismore islands , etc.
Black is great, but seeing this I'd rather get a white one.
Congrats, ronin!
the guide said one my buddy missed was tawny ( coyote color) . the one my buddy got was white. the ones in the guides successful pics were white. this is near the arctic circle. now i am saving to hunt for a dark and a tawny ( gray); either alberta or idaho/montana of some mix of those; or ontario or minnesota or......... . thanks to all especially Pat. ron
Awesome looking wolf! Congrats. A bet that was one fun trip.
Wow! You sure don't see one of those every day. Fabulous animal! Congrats!
I'd turn it into a coat, and go pimping like Joe Montana
Beautiful critter! That's a life time trophy, well done.
How cool is that woof! Congrats!
That is a beautiful animal!!
Neat animal. How did you hunt it?
What a beauty, Ron!
I've done a little guiding up in that part of the world, and most Arctic wolves are white or tawny. This is a different subspecies than the northwestern Gray wolf we're used to in southern Canada and the northern US...
Jordan- i probably knew there were three main colors. just wanted a big one. did not know that pale was rare. now i have two more colors to get. changed planes in calgary and it was cold there too.beautiful country. ron
What r u gonna do with the Trophy, make a rug or mount it ...ScottyO.

life size mount
Ron,
That is AWESOME!
Can you share a little more about the hunt? Number of days hunted, outfitter, number of wolves spotted etc.
Congrats!
Wow that is way cool. No pun intended.
That is a really white one! I have a white one hanging on my wall and it isn't as pure white as that is, very nice!
Be careful who you send it to.
A lot of good deer taxidermists ruin predators
I've never seen a white one, plenty of grays and blacks. That is nice.

You got that right....some of the most hideous mounts I've ever seen were life size wolves, coyotes, cats, and fox. Very few taxi's get it right.

Many if not all in t6he far,far north are pure white just like arctic fox. Cheers NC

Congratulations on a beautiful, beautiful trophy wolf. Also, very cool that you used a Mannlicher stocked rifle.

It is worth paying shipping for a mount that will bring you many years of joy.
I highly recommend Phil Soucy of Libby Montana.
I live clear out on the west coast and am glad I chose him to do one of my wolves, he is a master of masters..
What a great wolf! Gorgeous! Why not go all Cabela's? You know, add a trophy room on the house, have your wolf breaking up a herd of caribou or dragging down a 60" moose?
Phil is really great at what he does. I never could do work like he does.
Always wondered though why most folks want snarls and teeth showing when its fairly rare in the wild actually.
But thats a personal preference and all their choice.
That mount pictured looks really good!

Appreciate the advice on this subject. i have shot a lot of coyotes ( 250). I knew i could not shoot a wolf in aug/sep because of the fur . i have seen a LOT of coyotes in the wild and have noticed not only do taxidermist have a hard time, but even artists do to; few get the intensity in the face/eyes/ears. the mtn lion and lynx my taxidermist have done are great. i need to see a coyote/wolf he has done. ron

Phil mounted this lynx for me closed mouth.
It took 2nd in the world at the World Taxidermy Championships that year.
Photos simply don't do this mount justice, it truly looks alive...
