A friend of mine has planned a safari to SA later this year with his son. He cannot find ammo for his .375 H&H. He would like to shoot the Barnes Triple Shock but he is now getting concerned about availability of any suitable ammo. Cabela's has had him on back-order for a year and a half! I would prefer that he shoot factory ammo but if push came to shove, I could build him some reloads. Any thoughts? Thanks...

I might have a couple of boxes of Federal 270 or 300 grain .375's with Barnes' original X-bullet. If your buddy is unable to find what he needs locally, PM me. I'll confirm exactly what I have and we can strike a deal on them.

I would check and see if Denel-PMP will be available to traveling American hunter. I used 300gr soft points which were loaded with few grains of powder less to account for African hunting conditions. Monolithic solid is also available from PMP.

"availability of suitable ammo":

Both the Swift A Frame and Nosler Partition are available as loaded ammo from Cabela's which, in my opinion, is suitable ammo. Just my $.02 worth.

Good luck on your quest for the .375 ammunition

I've used Nosler Custom with 300 grain Partitions on my last three trips to Zim. I has done the job for me.

Why don't you want him to shoot handloads? I have hunted PG and DG with a .375 using handloads and never had the slightest problem.
