The Sharps
Sweet! I am looking forward to the photos and the report. While I'm sure he's pumped about the buff, stalking and gettig the kudu with BP is amazing.
Quoting
A two shot kill on a Cape buffalo and a 56 1/2 inch kudu is about as good as it gets on one trip
Great.
He's had Africa on the brain for years, cows and ranch duties tying him down.
Guess he found someone to baby sit'em so he could go.
Ditto on waiting for photos and stories.
DF
Great stuff! Can't wait for the photos.
I'm looking forward to the photos as well. Gunner said the bull was big, old, and had huge bosses. A 56 1/2 inch kudu is nothing to sneeze at, either.
CONGRATS! Gunner500.
Great.

AS THE DAIRY FARMER ALONG FOR A SOLO SAFARI IN 2005 WAS ASKED BY HIS ph "hOW ARE YOU GOING TO EXPLAIN THE BULL TO YOUR COWS?"
Anyone know how gunner is getting his trophies shipped back?
DF
All I know at this point is that he is having the taxidermy done over there.
All those years of shooting big gun, busting rocks on the ranch with his .505 Gibbs, etc., he finally goes over there and takes a Sharps...
Never would have thought that...
DF
Can't wait for the pictures!56 1/2" kudu is a stud!
Can't wait for the pictures!56 1/2" kudu is a stud!
Yep, that should be a great picture. Gunner and that big Kudu, two studs...
DF
Wow! Good for him. That had to be the thrill of a lifetime.
That's gonna be a great picture HUGE!.... Even with Gunner standing next to it
That's a light rifle for Gunner. Doesn't he have a 2-bore or 4-bore?
He's got a safe full of bigger bangers than a BP .45-70 Sharps, for sure.
Gunner must have fallen into the dark side crevasse in a BIG way...
What if that ole buff had wanted a piece of gunner while the air was all full of white smoke, the smell of burnt gunpowder still strong...
DF
Gunner would've wrassled that buff to the ground like those bull-doggers do in the rodeos.
click for video....whole lot of build up it being loaded and bea175 is the one shooting IIRC
Wow, many thanks for the welcome homes and congratulations men.
A clarification to make, maybe my excitement or bad cell reception was to blame, but the Kudu was taken with my 400 Whelen not my Sharps, it was simply to thick in the Mopani thorn thickets to allow time to handle a long Sharps rifle, along with vision and time to sight, it was plainly impossible.
Pics to follow soon, again Thanks everyone, I am forever a changed man for that trip.
Congrats gunner500, glad you finally got to fulfill a dream. Can't wait to see the pics and hear the story. Congrats, and glad you made it home safely.
400 Whelen! Still awesome! Well done Gunner!!!
Welcome home too!!
Way to go, Gunner! Can't wait for the pictures.

Thanks guys, I have never worked [walked] so hard in my life to spend money [trophy fees].
We tracked that Gemsbok for over 8.5 miles in the 38 to 42 degree celsius heat for the 25/30 yard shot in the thorns, for those that have ever been blessed to watch a native African tracker at work, it's simply mind blowing, we do NOT compete.
All true.
Now get to work you skunk and start feeding us photos and narratives, pronto!!!!
Gunner I'm glad you got to live your dream. Congratulations.

Amen to that Brother!
Most excellent adventure Gunner! Beats the heck out of working!!!
Most excellent adventure Gunner! Beats the heck out of working!!!
If he had to work that hard, making a living, he'd for sure have something to complain about...
But, this is a different kinda work, don't you know...
DF
Congrats on the hunt! Now quit screwin around.... lets see some pics!
What if that ole buff had wanted a piece of gunner while the air was all full of white smoke, the smell of burnt gunpowder still strong...
DF
Having met the man I suspect the Buff might have said something along the lines of "I'm sorry sir, I thought you owed me money but perhaps it's me that owes you"
Awesome Gunner...can't wait to see the pics.
Tony
Sheesh, you would hafta bring that up..Now those of us with the big guns will never hear the end!
Jerry all kidding aside an outstanding hunt of a life time.. well done and piles of style points for the PP bricks.
I know you stood on the compression die to max out the little engine that could.

Gunner,
Well done!
So, another instant Africa addict?
Congrats Gunner on a great hunt.
Way to go Gunner. Looking forward to hearing stories at the Hog Hunt in March.
I am not believing it until I see a photo of Jerry with the buff over his shoulders ala leopard.
glad to here he didnt get u daddy

Click here I was wondering just what addled Bea175's brain.
Gunner...you suck, but you suck with Class.
Had no doubt that you'd score with the iron,in 45 caliber, loaded with BP.
Kudos for the verification.
That handled, really CURIOUS as to what alternative to 30:1
you're going to recommend,...
Sure hope that you'll go into some detail as to how your 30:1s failed, or were less than optimum in performance.
Great times, and great stories !
Safe home
GTC
Cross, the slug upset too much to completely penetrate through the buffalo.
Gunner what gives are you painting the pictures?
I wouldn't be in any hurry to leave there, either.
Everyone of those is nice!
Kudos on his success...and doin' it with class!
Great pics. Really like the Kudu and buffalo ones.

Nice F'ing rack!
don't tell me you had to use a Bolt Gun to finish it off?
No, that is the PH's rifle.
No, it's my 400 Whelen, kept them both close the entire hunt, I must have just finished wiping it down with the oil rag when called over for a quick photo.
Maybe bad form, yes, but bs, no.

Unscripted hunting photo's are the best of form!

Al you had to say was the 400 Whelen was load with Lead Paper Patched Bullet and Black Powder
I just got back from out of town all week and talked to Gunner on the phone...I see more trophy fees in his future.....
I think he sucks, getting a kudu that big right out of the gate...but I wont say that to his nasty face!
Beautiful Buffalo.....
Just saw the photos. Great stuff!
It goes without saying that I am jealous, but what a stellar hunt. I figured that you would have a great time. Looks like I underestimated it.
That 400 Whelen is a mojo stick for sure.
Congrats Gunner! I can't wait to see the pics and read the stories. I'll live vicariously through you.
Now that looks like money well spent. Congrats.
But as much of a "Billy Badass" as he is, what the hell does he need a gun for. He could have just done what Alex Karras did in Blazing Saddles.
That is some sweet sheeeitttt that's for sure!
Great pics, love the kudu and the buffalo.

Gunner, It's nice to hear you had a good hunt. Doing it with your Sharps, that's bad to the bone.
Glad you got home safe.
Patiently waiting for the full blow by blow and more pictures!
I'm waiting for more chest hair photos. Someone please send Gunner a gold chain.

You thinking gunner needs to dress up like John Sharp with head band, grow his hair long (that could be a problem), wear a sleeveless muscle shirt and shorts...
DF
Congrats Gunner, Looks like an incredible hunt for sure.
Classic!
[bleep] eating grin if I ever saw one!!!

Wow! Fantastic! Great job Gunner and congratulations!
FANTASTIC!
Well done, Jerry!
Many, many Thanks again everyone, I do appreciate it, have an upcoming appointment with one of the I.T. security guys at my Wifes work, he's gonna make several copies of the video, I'll get one to Evil Twin, he says he will try and post it here, anyone interested can watch it and see all seven kills, it's around 30 minutes in length, it was an unreal experience, I WILL REPEAT IT MANY MANY TIMES.
I have to apologize for my absence, in less than 30 days I have made my Wifes birthday, a successful Kansas muzzleloader deer hunt, my first African safari and our wedding anniversary, all on time and completed, now back to catching up and laying in some extra work that isn't really due yet, but hell, deer season is here too, will need more time off.
Gunner
It's sometimes tough but somebody has to do it.
You're doing it right gunner. Congratulations on fine trophies
Jerry can't wait to see the video!
chiiiiiiat Jerry didn't use that gun, he just gave them the look and they fell over and died.

Nah, he hit that buffler over the head with the Sharps.
Hokay, here are the pics

Congrats on an incredible experience.

.
Seriously well doneon all fronts including attending to your bride!
, Wifey said the I.T. Nerds at work were slow...........................she was right.
