Apparently all lions have names now. I had no idea how like people they are.

People watching too many Walt Disney movies.....
"Everyone" cries and bemoans the death of some element of wildlife and assumes everything would be wonderful if no-one ever harmed any wildlife. Probably wildlife would benefit more greatly if human populations were more active in use of birth control.

Theres no "probably" about it.....
Too true!

I think that the burgeoning human populations in Africa over the past 50 years are unsustainable, and will crash within our lifetime, Poobah. The HIV epidemic over there is staggering in its scope... the only thing holding it back is cheap anti-viral drugs supplied by humanitarian aid agencies. With the world health system in the precarious balance it's been in, it will tip sooner or later. The die-offs when that happens will be impressive, to say the least. If you throw a couple other things into the mix like Ebola, influenza, etc, it becomes a potential catastrophe of Biblical proportions.
