Can anyone make a recommendation on an outfitter?

I got mine in the month of May with Nixon Dzingai of SSG Safaris in Zimbabwe. Had lots of cat activity and I got mine on the 5th day. I also shot a big elephant, croc, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck and bushbuck. Saw lots of game. Super good safari.

PM me for details.

Zimbabwe is a great country for hunting leopard.

The bigger cats will come from the lowveld in areas like Bubye Valley Conservancy and smaller cats from the Zambezi Valley.

Choose a reputable licensed Zimbabwe operator and a reputable licensed Zimbabwe PH and you will have a good safe hunt and your trophies will be shipped without issues.

Any of the Bubye Valley Conservancy guys will be very good. Shaun Buffee (I have hunted with him) Pete Fick, John Sharp, are all top notch. Big Cats in this area, popular area, bookings can be a little pricey but one of the better leopard areas around.

The Save Valley Conservancy is another great area. Lots of operators on there. Mokore Safaris is top notch. The Duckworths run an excellent operation. I have hunted with Mokore on the Save, Sengwa Research, and Coutada 9 in Mozambique. There are other good operators there, be a little cautious there have been some shenanigans with a couple of concessions in the area. I can assure you Mokore will take care of you.

Lindon Stanton is a very good operator and I have also hunted with him.

Martin Pieters has had great success with leopards in the Omay. I took a nice cat with him during the day. We only had to sit in the blind for a total of four hours. His pricing is reasonable. I have hunted with him three times. Martin is past chairman of the ZPHGA.

CM Safaris is very good, I never have hunted with them but would do so in a second.

I am not a booking agent nor do I represent any outfitter in any manner.

Hope this helps

Question is also, bait or over hounds?

Thank you for the advice!
I've been looking into Martin Pieters Safari. Any feedback?

Another vote for Lindon Stanton. His dad Charlie was as good as Wayne Grant, but never wanted the hype that came with it. I have hunted with the Stanton's four times and they have some huge cats in their areas. Besides that, he is a good friend and has been a guest in my home for the last two years. I better man and hunter you will not find.

Sheep: I hunted for buffalo with Pieters in Omay. Did not see a mature bull. Pieters refuses to return my trophy fee. See http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1411043/m/8621073702?r=8621073702#8621073702 for more information.
I hunted with Corris Ferreira at Track-A-Hunt Safaris. Had an OUTSTANDING hunt. We shot 2 bulls ( one 41"), 2 cows, 2 zebras. Caught tiger fish and vundu. Tracked a lioness caught in a snare. Visited villages and had a very hospitable stay at Corris's house. I cannot recommend Track-A-Hunt highly enough. See PM.

I believe bobmn's hunt was in 2011. I hunted there in 2011 also. This is my hunt report. (If you view the link the story is in several different posts on the first page)

This is the buffalo and leopard I took on the 2011 hunt. I would consider him a little mature.

All that being said I cannot speak to bobmn's experience. I will say this, the Omay can be a tough place to hunt buffalo. I once killed a buffalo on Thanksgiving day on Omay North, other than the self guided Congo hunt I did that was the hardest hunting I have ever done. It was also the most satisfying.

At the right time of the year you can also catch a few tiger fish.

I love the Omay and Lake Kariba. Martin has always treated me more than fair and I have been successful on all of my hunts with him.

Good luck with your choice, any of the guys I listed will be great.

bobmn, you passed up bulls the first few days, you failed to walk and moaned the entire time, you rolled over your trophy fee for 2 years and then failed to rebook, your inability to put in the miles and your lack of enthusiasm plus your quest for a certain size does not make my area bad nor does it make my PH inadequate!

Martin: Thank you for publicly admitting that you kept my trophy fee even though I never got a shot at a mature bull. I also thank you on behalf of all the potential clients that now know if they hunt with you and are unsuccessful that you will fabricate lies about them to justify stealing their trophy fee. Perhaps the reason I did not book a return hunt with Martin Pieters Bulembi Safaris is that I knew there was no chance of seeing buffalo in Omay like I saw in Gache Gache Campfire Area where this picture was taken with Track-A-Hunt Safaris.
