Best wishes to my buddy Jorge right now.

Thought those of you on this forum should know Jorge lost his father this week. However, Dad did outlast that communist MFer Fidel, and I hope it gave him some sense of satisfaction.

Anyway, I send comfort and prayers to the family.

Just now saw this gents. Thank you all very much. He passed away peacefully on his bed at home at the age of ninety five years and four months and change. He led an interesting life and I've related some of his stories here, particularly those involving Che' Guevara. Back to Miami tomorrow for the funeral. Once again thanks to all of you for your kind words.

I lost my Dad 30 years ago and I still think of him every day. My comfort has been to try to be as good a man as he was. He expected that of me. I'm sure your Dad expected that of you.
Be strong, for, finally, you are the Daddy now.

Jorge,

The pain of your loss is real and unavoidable. But I hope the comfort that your father - a goods man and a patriot -outlived the Tyrant, will hopefully provide you and your family comfort in your grief.

Condolences and may his soul rest in eternal glory.

My sincere condolences, Jorge. I am glad for your Dad and your family that he lived as long as he did. Very unusual, even in these days of such modern medicine.

Having outlived that tyrant and his clan, I am sure the satisfaction of that ran deep for him.

Rest in Peace, sir.

So glad Jorge's dad outlived Castro....I've heard things about Fidel that are literally too awful to repeat....

Jorge: I know it doesn't seem like it now, but you were a lucky man to have him in your life for so long, then have him pass peacefully. My father left the party way too young, and in a way I'd not choose for anyone.
Thank your lucky stars and dwell on the good times!

Gents, as long as this thread is alive, I will continue to respond with my thanks. Chui, you are absolutely right and my dad was indeed quite the man. Best I can describe him to you is the character Higgins in the TV show Magnum PI. Cheers, jorge

Condolences Jorge. I lost my father almost exactly 1 year ago on 02/20/16. In my father's case, no one saw it coming. One minute he was fine, and the next minute he was gone. He was 90. I hope you're getting everything situated, including your head, now that it's been a month, but it'll take a while. Good luck.
Posted By: jorgeI Re: Jorge - 02/14/17
I'm good with it, thanks, SC. He just turned off like dimming a light.
