It’s a bucket edge attachment for tearing brush, scraping gravel, etc.

I see it’s best use here for tearing up ice surface on the driveway and horse pen.

I have a box blade w scarifiers, but the picks are too far apart for effective ice roughening. I’ve used it and it’s better than nothing, but not by much.

Thanks. I’ll take a look.

I've thought about it a lot for clearing, but my hillside land is so uneven that mostly only one end or the other would be working.

If you need to rake them, you may have too many ratchets?

Why not drill your bucket, get a tooth bar and a replacement blade edge?

That would be similar and is an option if I can find one locally.

Which tractor? Assuming a BX size?
Posted By: Heeler Re: Ratchet Rake - 11/07/20
Look up serrated cutting edges. Might find a few good options to look at.

Mike, is this anything like you want? [Linked Image from i.imgur.com]
Posted By: ironbender Re: Ratchet Rake - 11/07/20
Nope. Click my link above. It’s a bucket attachment.
Posted By: wabigoon Re: Ratchet Rake - 11/07/20
Mike, I must have missed it. What do you want to do?

A scarefirer? Like they use on graders to loosen hard ground?

It'd work with that tractor.

From looking at all the pics on the website, I doubt you can get very rough with it..

I wonder how a harrow with sharp spikes would work?
Posted By: tddeangelo Re: Ratchet Rake - 11/08/20
I've considered it for my SCUT....I just don't like that it essentially makes the bucket unusable/less useful when it's on...as opposed to something like a Piranha or Everything Attachments toothbar. I looked at Heavy Hitch's toothbar, too.

I'm leaning toward EA or Piranha. I have some brush clearing on my winter to-do list...so the time to buy will be coming soon.

Don't think the pull behind would have enough ass (weight) to do much.
The bucket one seems iffy as to strength.
Either the tool might bend, or the bucket.

Scratching dirt is one thing, ice heavy enough to need this is hard,
machine weight, plus pushing would be tough with the added, focused leverage
of those teeth. Back dragging might be fine, but if someone tried pushing?

It will be on when dealing with glare ice then off.

I have no doubt it will work. Looking for potential problems, but no one here has one, apparently.

The shipping alone is $100+. I’ll look Monday for some grader blade or something.

Thanks, guys.

Most of the jobs in the video I saw were done in reverse, pulling on it rather than pushing it. Fill the bucket with rocks and you can do some serious scratching, assuming it s sturdy enough to take it.

I believe it’s 1/2”. I’m going to call Monday and find out what steel.

Could it be something like ar400?

I would buy the ratchet rake, its not going to be rigid enough in my eyes.

I have one. It will be just fine scratching ice. I put mine on my back blade.
