The Lord Jesus Christ, and all the blessings He has given me.
The smell of dirt after a rain storm.
Sunshine above, my boat under my feet and a breeze through my hair.
Seeing the flag flip on a deep-water trap thatās been set with a live, over-sized bait allllll damn day, as the sun starts hitting the horizon and youāre in the slow process of pulling gear.
Turning OFF the alarm clock before I go to bed. Time is my own now.
Besides Bobs bleached starfish.
You love Bobs' bleached starfish?
OKaaaaaaaaay
(not that there's anything wrong with that)
The smell of dirt after a rain storm.
Thatās a good one. That and the smell of walking in the pines after a rain. It takes me back to being a kid spending time up north cooped up while it stormed and ready to hit the woods with my 10/22 to stalk pest and other targets of opportunity as soon as it stopped. The smell of gun smoke in the air is another one.

The smell of rain in the air
The taste of an astounding cup of coffee that you only get once in a great while!
That perfect golden color that passes through the woods on a late fall afternoon.

hanco, you don't know what you're missing. You can still keep your hand in things a little, if you decide that's what you want to do.
Quit breaking your ass. You're older than me.

Fuggin Texans.
Nice work, Hanco.
I follow a plumbing page on FB and it's interesting to see the differences between techniques and materials used. I believe some of it is regional because of code requirements, but I think some of it is because of techniques and preferences that were firmly established in the past by influential tradesmen.
My wife, daughter, and family (well most of them anyway)

It sounds like your living the dream. I get more than I need of the ice cream and doughnuts but not enough of the rest. 18 years until retirement here.

The cedar plank salmon I am going to grill in a few minutes.
I like roses on my piano. But I love tulips on my organ.
Sitting around the coal stove at the cabin, drinking a cup of coffee, dogs going in and out of the open door and snow blowing in.
Raindrops on roses

My son. He's turned out to be a good man.
My wife, even though she passed away last year.
My new lady friend. She's helping us all heal.
The first light of dawn in a duck blind.
A dip in the pool after a sweaty day of working outside.
Playing a fine guitar.
When the all the training pays off in a beautiful performance at a retriever hunt test or on an amazing retrieve on a hunt.
Finding out that I've made a positive difference in someone's life.
Developing a good load for a new rifle.
Really good song lyrics (Jason Isbell, Don Henley, etc.)

Damn, that was good.

We used to have a deer ācampā for Texas that means you. A. Drive right to it but growing up it was just me my dad his buddy and his son. No generator, buckets to flush. Just lanterns and Coleman stove.
The 4 of us sitting around a fire Playing dominoes usually.
When it was bed time we would all get in our beds and sleep like a baby.
I also like when your dropping a routine deuce and you hit a gas pocket that red Adair would have trouble with. When you stand up you have to grab another belt hole
My 2 boys, my father and my sister. Only reasons I am alive.
Life and everything in it.
I love the smell of a freshly fired 20 ga Winchester hull on a snow covered morning.
There is that, and it is close.
But if one asks about my favorite aroma. A bright April morning and the sun is shining brightly onto the saddle horses still in their shaggy winter coats. I love to walk up beside the horse and shove my nose right into that shoulder hair and inhale deeply.
Takes me right back sixty years to my first pony, and all the wonderful horses in my life since.
Don't sweat the petty things -
and don't pet the sweaty things.
Life and everything in it.

Everything mentioned sounds great , but also like it when a load makes that little bug hole .
Then chasing the duplicate.
The smile that creeps up on ya when a good hit is made on a white tail by me or anyone else for that matter .
Tasting them tid bits in the pan while working up the meat .
Dogs shiny eyes while they wait for theirs .

Had a buddy over for dinner last night. My wife was out of town with the girls at the beach. He shows up with a sack of fresh veggies from the garden, 4 bottles of wine and a bottle of Jim Beam. We each had a rack of ribs off the Traeger, two smoked potatoes, a salad, and some refreshments. Hung out on the patio BS'ing until almost dark so he could see the hummingbird moths on the petunias. He'd never seen one before. Sometimes it's the small things that make a big impression.
Good times.

You're welcome anytime.
I said, "I love you so much, I couldn't live without you."
My wife giggled and asked, "Is that you talking, or the beer?"
I said, "It's me talking, to the beer!"

This is a pretty good representation of what means the most to me. 4 generations of us in my boat gathering a mess of crappie for a Sunday fish fry.
My family hunting camp thatās been going strong for 64 years means a great deal to me. My Grandmom always said us guys spent 6 months planning the trip and then werenāt worth a damn for the next 6 months after we get back.
My wife and I have been through a lot of rough road over the last 13 years, not sure either one of us could get along without the other.
But the very most important thing in my world is my sidekick. Heās the only son Iāll ever have and my constant companion. I dread the day he outgrows me and hope that when he does heāll come back to be my buddy again, happened to me and my dad as Iām sure it did to all of us. I know I only have the one shot, I just hope like hell I can do a good job.
Looks to me like you're on the right track.
