Mine is bad. Dealerships charging anywhere from 780-815 for the part on my 2016 4runner sr5. Horn works intermittently, not when steering wheel is straight, but when turn the wheels, it works.
A google search reveals prices from $19 on ebay or up depending on where you get it.
I don't want to do it more than once, the airbag disconnect still scares me a little, but I'm starting to get over it.
Where you would buy one, where have you found luck, etc.?
Thanks in advance,
Jon
you could probably buy a whole salvage steering column for $35-50. just specify you want the clockspring...you might even get them to do a continuity test before they ship it...
Where would you start looking for one of them? Not sure it's a common occurrence, but don't want one that will do it again, but a new one may be just as bad.
I used to know how to shop junkyards/salvage yards.
I would check with Rockauto.com. Might get lucky.

I have had success with them on many parts.
If you've found them on Ebay why not just order it there?
I wonder about eBay scams and who knows who’s selling? Just looking for a respected seller or dealer. Thanks. For the rock auto rec, I’ll check there.
any auto parts store should have them, look it up on dorman, or rock auto,
Check Car-Part.com they have several in your area Car-Part
Rockauto.com doesn't have it or I can't find it.
Part number they gave me was 84307-30090
I'll check car-part.com
Thanks

Do what I do when I need a Toyota part. Get searching for sellers, but not just on Fleabay or Amazon. I have found parts from different on-line parts stores that sell OEM Toyota parts, and they are many times half what a dealer charges. ( even though some are dealers) That's how they get business. Beware of so-called OEM part on Ebay and Amazon, sometimes they are fakes from China, I found out the hard way.....you get what you pay for most of the time. If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Thanks,
One of the eBay pics has a sticker on it, made in China, that one to me is a no brainer.
I’ll keep searching.
I hate to say it, but, Amazon. Enter in your vehicle made, model, year information and it should pull up only parts that fit your requirement. From there you can search brands until you find either OEM or an aftermarket you can live with.
This one will save you $246 Toyota airbag clockspring
Check Advanced Auto, sign up an account. Put part in your basket. Leave the site. Anywhere from 4-24 hours they will email you with a better discount code.
I replaced one on my Tacoma. I bought a new knockoff from ebay for around $25. It matched the oem in every detail. It was an easy replacement and works like new. Don’t fret the airbag disconnect; I had the same concerns. It’s only a plug-in and just remember to ground yourself before pulling the airbag. It’s been a couple years now, works perfectly, and saved me hundreds of dollars. Good luck.
