About right considering 23% inflation.

I'm sure they'll go up on Medicare to make up for it too.

Lotta still working, and at the bill paying/family raising broke ass stage
of life, will get a couple percent "raise" and double digit insurance
increases, along with increased deductibles and co-pays

Unreal what employee insurance looks like now.
The boss man is paying through the nose, many are not even
covering families. Employee only.

Employee paying $800+/month
For a policy that has $50-100 co-pay and $5k family deductible.
Our single is around $35/w/o with $2k deductible.
And from what I see most is worse.
Posted By: mtnsnake Re: Social Security COLA - 10/10/22
Yes, they will take the increase for your medicare cost. Nothing gained is nothing lost.

Medicare goes down like 6 bucks a month.
But doesn't off set last years 14% increase in the least.
Insulin total out of pocket is supposed to be 35 a month.
Some other stuff Medicare wise is supposed to go into effect in 2025 IIRC...

Honk for Joey will Tout this schit even though the inflation rate is waaaay beyond 3rd quarter figures for the cola calc.

Using the CPI W is slanted against seniors.
Notice how the price of gas went down during the july, aug, sept calculation period for cola...

Uh huh....

This schit can all be Google fu,d....

Collect SS at 62.
Tricare for life, VA tier 1, and that Medicare schit to look forward too at 65.
And I hardly go to the docs except for mech fix joint surgery stuff.

Paying for all the freeloading fuuuks who never worked a day in their life is how I look at it.

$4 a dozen for eggs!!!!?

I guess Ky. has a few attributes, $1.79 here.

It all evens out...until the gov't get's involved.
Our health share organization went to $800/mo. We were already paying $500/mo.
We told 'em, "Kiss my grits!" and now put $400/mo as cash in gun safe.
A medical test I needed cost $1500! 🤯
When I informed them I would be bringing cash, the price dropped to $500! 😯

I’ll loan you $5
A dozen eggs is $3 at the local produce stand. $4.50 for 18.
Home ground whole wheat flour is $5/3 pounds. Home ground corn meal is $2.50/1.5 pounds.

The eggs, flour and cornmeal taste a whole lot better! 😉

When did you buy last?
$4 here too. Thought i heard wrong when my wife told me that.

Heating oil at $5.19 and needs to go higher.
The retailer has been absorbing increases out of markup, margup is
close to not covering costs.

Of course everyone accuses them of gouging, ripping folks off.
Folks c ant understand th at these companies would prefer lower prices.
High oil costs them, the run trucks.
Their profit comes from margins, not retail price.

In a good market they could sell for $1.00,
have a decent markup,
lower costs,
sell more fuel,
make more money.

August was 8.3% and September is quoted as the 8.5% that you mentioned.

Good for COLA and SS recipients in a way but bad for the market.

Still no mention of Medicare costs.

The supposed intent of immigration, maybe? More paying into the system.

Democrats have said this. Republ Haven’t argued otherwise.

You’re right about the numbers of payers versus the numbers of recipients.

Their are some retired 0 types on here I think up to 05,s and 06,s that are pretty happy to get a good cola raise also.

Schitty circumstances for the nation cola is this high though.
But I bet the overwhelming majority of us mil retired types would rather have our buying power for our dollars back under President Trump in lieu of this cola raise being this much and the bullschit from this puppet administration that brought it about.

Yep, not taking redux was a great decision. My buddy took it thinking he’d go 24 years and he was mandatory retired at 22 years. Now he’s all about Dave Ramsey and telling others what to do, but not doing it himself.
Posted By: renegade50 Re: Social Security COLA - 10/13/22
I wasnt around for this redux stuff.
But know it was a plan to ensnare fools from reading about it.

Seen alot of failure to launch and complacent stagnant types get paid in the early 90,s to get out though.
Kinda a slap in the face of guys just doing say a 2 3 or 4 yr enlistment and getting the basic benefits of being a vet versus the packages and compensation they was giving 8 yr e4,s and 11yr e4p,s to get out. IIRC.
Ect ect ect thru other pay grades e and o alike.
E4,s with 8yrs in getting paid to get out,
Getting 2 yr post privledge ID cards
Pref hiring in .gov jobs above catagory of honorable discharged vets .

O,s
Riffed 2nd look primary zone 03,s getting same schit.
Then joining NG or reserve making 05 06 eventually.
And working GS jobs on post.

All rewarding failure....

Your fat and fail pt test on purpose.
And you knowing would get paid.
Your stagnant as a e5 with 13 yrs in
Knowing your gonna get paid.
Alot of em took lump sum versus the 20 yr pay off thing back then.

I seen alot of e5,s take that schit 92 94 era
some of in the army longer than some of us E6,s in the army at the time by 5 to 7 yrs doing nothing to get themselves promoted.
SMH....

Seen alot of e6,s get qmp,d also that thought they was "safe" 94 95 era with avg or below avg service records also.

Geuss DOD went through a mini qmp 4 or 5 yrs ago also????

Redux picked up steam around 2000, then the war in Iraq and the Stan guys were doing it to get it all tax free. 30k go home on r&r take family on expensive ass trip come back broke. Then the word got out if you get medically retired and get 100% rating the redux you took at 15yrs no longer applied to you. They chit canned the high 3 retirement in 2018 time frame so redux went out the window. It’s now called blended retirement. Soldiers that were already in less than 10yrs had until 2019 I think January to either opt into high 3 or blended retirement. I told all of them opt into high 3 blended retirement sucks.

So that also has alot to do with schit Bryds playing the PTSD 100% game if ya think about it in ways.
That is a insight I never really thought of.
I do remember those bonus payments now that you bring it up in ratio to accepting a lower retirement plan.
The null and void of it via the 100% rating explains alot of things in many ways.

That is good info on how these turds play the system at times.
Not all ..
But a good gawddammed large % of em.
Espeically around here.

My oldest daughter has the high 3.
Pretty financially aware.

But she got out and went 3 letter.

I can't help it man...
I'm bored as schitt.
You know I'm kinda burnt out by the time I start hunting with you during TN ml from hunting on post for almost 6 weeks straight.
That schit just changed after 3 fuuuking decades..
Cut 6 weeks off the entire SG ML A season and give that schit to archery hunters solely....

Looking at going fall turkey hunting for the 1st time ever if a area is open for SG this weekend.
That's how stir crazy and bored I am man.

And if D bags on here suffer the effects of me not being in the woods from it.
Suuuks to be them...

Bazinga we have a winner, I know of at least two that claimed ptsd got 100%, they also took redux after their 15yr mark. But I can’t hate they played the system. With redux you had up until your 19yr mark to take it.. with your BASD the rules were different in 1988 they changed a lot of things. Believe it or not still had Vietnam vets as late as 2000 and they had different rules. We had a CSM that was in nam this dude was old school. I remember in bn formation he said all you dick slappers stop writing graffiti on the motor pool bathroom walls. Ph uck man different time for sure lol..

Help me out on that, your teamster retiree health became a medicare supplement when you turned 65, right..you then have to pay for that?
I retired at 62, and my retiree health for both my wife and I is paid 100%, we have no co-pay so far..will that change when it becomes a supplement to medicare?

If I had joined right out of high school in 81 instead of mid 83
I would have fell under the high 1 final pay thing plan. IIRC.

Fell under the high 3 36 month avg calc instead.
