We put ours up last night
[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
Been up for a couple of weeks now. Real tree, every year.
I’m single. I don't put up a tree for Christmas unless I have a girlfriend hanging around. My decorations this year consist of some pine bough and a bow on the exterior door and a big bowl of Red and gold balls on the table. I travel a lot over the holiday so not really home much at all. Heading to Alabama the day after Christmas for 5/6 days of deer hunting.
We put ours up Thanksgiving weekend

I say we because I got guilted into helping and being held captive audience. Total waste of time in my feeling and opinion.

10+ Large boxes and bins of bullsheitt, Requires having to pull a couple of my shoulder mounts down.

Wouldn’t be so insufferable if we could I do a live tree and then just chuck the mfer out into the burn pile.
But noooo, it has to be a 9footer with built in danci g lights with a hundred trinkets and magnolia blossoms. ughhhh
The whole thing just overly tedious and no one appreciates it. And all has to be undressed and packed away again. Christmas sux dick

And fouck carols, that chit for retards
Yes, my wife does.
We finally put ours up day before yesterday. We normally put it up day after thanksgiving but I've been sick and didn't feel like it.
We’ve had ours up since early November. We put it up early every year since I take two weeks at Thanksgiving off and spend that time at the cabin. Planning on spending a few days over there this week before it gets colder at the end of the week.

We have a 4’ artificial tree that we put up on a table to keep the pups away. We were putting up a real tree till about 9 years ago when the collie stuck his head in it to clean his eyes and he tipped it over. Lost a lot of mom’s old decorations that morning. Been using an artificial ever since.
Sort of, my wife sits a 18in tall one with little white lites on the mantel. We have no real room in house for a tree and besides she doesn't like storing a bunch of stuff or the cleanup involved afterwards. All of our decorations fit in a medium tote other than a couple of strings of lights for outside of house. We are not scrooges ,just rather remember what the real reason for the season is.
We have 3, a 7' live tree in the foyer, a 7' artificial tree in the library, and a 7' artificial birch tree in the dining room that stays up year 'round and which my wife decorated for whatever season or holiday is currently being celebrated.
Wife and grandkids, two weeks ago
We have had a fake revolving tree for the last few years. And like Slummy I am forced to do the Christmas shuffle up and down out of the attic. Had a couple issues with real trees and bad stands so its fake from now on.
Wife puts up artificial tree.
Yep.

Kinda mandatory at our house.
Kids gone.
No grandkids.
No reason to cut down a perfectly good tree for that. Ain't about to waste money, time and energy on a fake tree.

The "TREE" ain't "...the reason for the season...".

Merry CHRISTmas to all!

If we still had kids at home or grandkids, I'd have a tree to rival the WH! ....but alas!
Vermont cut you own. Prices went way up this year.
Does the one on the back porch that I just plug in and set the timer every year count? It's just left there all year long for the wrens and spiders to inhabit the rest of the year.
Last Friday our 2 daughter, my wife and I, and Dillon(our Boxer) went to the dame tree farm we
have been buying from for at least 11 years. Every year since we got Dillon he has went along.

We pick a tree, go to the cheap local chain pizza joint for supper.
At home I saw it to size install the swivel stand adapter and get it up and straight.
Then sit in my chair out of the way, and watch them do their thing.

Dillon is 11, anymore he needs a nap after the trip.
Yea, I thought just about everyone put up a tree. Ours is a Frazier Fur, and has been up sine a couple days after Thanksgiving.
Yep, a live wild tree every year.
We put up 2 full sized trees over here.

We don't do the tree or any outdoor lights anymore.

Amen.

Yep, and I string lights around outside, too. I considered not doing the exterior lights this year because I get zero help, but when it came down to it, I realized that I really do it for me and if anyone else enjoys looking at them, fine. It's kind of my thing. The tree is the wife's domain, except for the heavy lifting and shuffling of too much stuff in the storage area.

Yes
Done! memtb
Tree and a bunch of lights outside. I clamber all over the roof putting the lights up. Honestly, I enjoy all the decorating. We mostly put up ornaments the kids made in school and church when they were little which makes it fun looking at their sweet little faces from yesteryear.

Thankfully we don't put up a tree anymore, I despised having to go through that drill every year. Still got a million boxes of trinkets so I'm not out of the woods forever.
We always put the tree up on Thanksgiving or the day before. Christmas lights on outside of house usually go up at about the same time depending on weather and work schedule.
My wife did it yesterday.

7-foot Fraser fir. Lights, bubble lights, and lots of ornaments (some old, some been around awhile, some quite new). 3-dimensional crocheted angel that my mom made on top.
We have 2.

1 small one in our living room.

And a 10'+ in the family/great room.
No. I don't bother.

When I did, goes up 1 week before, comes down the day after.
I'm 68---Bah Humbug. smile
Two, one traditional with white lights and one with old c6 lights and old Noma bubble lights, even tinsel strands. The old lights run off a transformer to extend the bulb life.
Sure did. We get into the holiday deal pretty solidly.
Still put one up every year. Going to the local tree farm and finding "the one" is a big part of the ritual.
Usually on the last day of firearm deer season.

We'll venture out in the morning, pick one out and cut it, bring it home. Then I head out for one last sit in the stand.

Honestly, at age 65, I could do without a tree, but it's still a big deal to my wife, so the tradition continues.
Ain't gonna happen.

We will be at the rec cabin over Christmas.

My wife wants one in the house.

My wife wants to "improve the view" for sunrises by cutting only one of the dozen or so 40' spruce in the way (making no appreciable difference), using just the top. Those tops are all ugly anyway. (We used a Charlie Brown top from a blowdown at the rental last year- suited me just fine)

It's ass deep in snow out there, that tree is not beetle infested yet, and I'm not cleaning up the trunk and slash at 20 below. Or ever, until the beetles get it.

Ain't gonna happen.

There is a 8'er on the corner of our drive, that is going to have to come out sooner or later, and another real pretty one up behind the garage which also needs to be removed sooner or later to keep it from encroaching on my drivable access back there. She put the kibbosh on that both, for now.

So be it.

I concur with Slummy.
Used to... Not any more... First one in this house was 14' tall - a yuge Scotch Pine.. Sorta like the Griswalds tree... laugh Never again.
Went up day after Thanksgiving. We have four ankle biters that get into the holidays pretty good.

I'm 71, and there isn't a kid anywhere that gets into it more than I do.
Humbug
Absolutely. Right after Thanksgiving.
Thankfully, no more live trees.
That was a real pain. The wife couldn’t make up her mind and we would wander around the place for two hours.
Four years ago she went and bought an artificial tree with the lights already on it. It has pine cones, berries, and a white frosting on the needles that looks like snow…..it’s a beautiful tree and we enjoy it immensely.
No more wandering around the Christmas tree farm.
I love a real tree. Frazier fir.

We have a tradition of getting everyone an ornament for Christmas that is special to them/the year so it’s fun decorating the tree and telling the family story as we go.

It’s a tradition handed to me by my parents. I still have their ornaments and many from my childhood. Pretty cool cuz both my parents are gone.
Oh Joy! Got it home a couple days ago. Lights are on with the balance of the decorations going on today. Permits cost us $5 to take one out of the forest. Probably burned $50 of diesel though plowing around in the snow and arguing about their relative merits. Too tall, fat, crooked, skinny, lopsided, split top, and on and on and on, until we get to the "whatever you want."

Best story though is a buddy with twin daughters that they dragged out into the elements every year for the hunt. Always an excuse to stay at home but they were forced to go every year. First year at college and the girls came home to find a tree in place and decorated. They were absolutely livid as they'd had no say in the selection process. A guy just can't win.

Got a high ceiling, put up a tall tree.

We're 75 and still have a great time finding one to fill our forest service permit and getting it put up.

I feel sorry for the Humbug family.

Yes and a Nativity scene as well.

Merry Christmas everyone!
It'd take you a half hour to look my wife's all over.

Jake bought a real tree for five bucks.
