My dad played one in a bluegrass band about 60 years ago
I have a few. I am not very musically inclined, however.
They actually have nothing to do with their namesake. Best I can tell, the name comes from the fact that it was a musical instrument that was so cheap that even a jew might come up off his wallet to pay for one.
