Yup, that’s right Henry has introduced its new Revolver Line.
https://www.henryusa.com/handguns/big-boy-revolver/
Already two threads on this in the handgun forum, fyi.
I’ll pass on those, a hard pass.
Interesting.
The role of the .357 mag / .38 Spl in my stable requires a RDS these days, so we'll see how this line develops. (No pun intended)
If I would have made that in 7th grade shop class, I would have gotten an “F”
I'd probably buy one if it was in the $550-$650 range, but not at the current price point.
I'd probably buy one if it was in the $550-$650 range, but not at the current price point.
For that $$ I'd rather get a used S&W.
I commend Henry for innovation and choice, but I guess I'm too refined in some aspects of firearms to have some of their stuff appeal to me.
Looks like an H&R screwed a Security Six.
That is the Hi-Point of revolvers. Butt ugly they are.
They sure don't look too user friendly to me.

Not to detract from the main topic, but I wish the gun shops out here didn't suck. There's six or so and the prices on used Smith's are still absurdly high.
Kinda looks like a correspondence school gunsmith assignment: "Refinish a Clerk or RG revolver in garish tones to please your customer, a gay New Orleans man pimp"
Not while there are old Smiths out there.

exactly

You can tell all that from a photo, or have you had a chance to see one up close and personal?

Perfect description.
Looks like an H&R screwed a Security Six.
My thoughts too; with a hint of ugly. Oh gee, that wasn't nice.
A little brass thrown in here and there always makes things better in the Henry design shop.
They look like an overpriced Charter Arms.
Not interested at all.
I'll put one in my pecker tongs before I pass judgment.
I like the general attitude of Henry and want to support them.
Got some fugly goin' on, especially at that premium price
I present to you, the
Ugly Boy Revolver
They look so last century. Like a pocket 38 at a poker game.
Make a big long barrel with an underlug in a 577 Tyranissaur complete with scope mounts and maybe that'd get some attention.
They probably bought the old charter arms revolver tooling.
Is Henry Repeating Arm's company creedo: "At Henry Repeating Arms our creedo is to build the most butt ugly firearms available"
looks like my granmas ,little .32 H-R
Or how about this slogan for those revolvers:
"The worlds most expensive Saturday Night Special"
Those look so bad and cheap... and then taking the price into account... makes you really wonder if this is their "bud light" moment
If I would have made that in 7th grade shop class, I would have gotten an “F”

It’s obvious the poor eyesight is yours, mine is not the only negative comment. I don’t have to hold a turd to know that it stinks…
As a buddy of mine put it, “it looks like something you would use to start a foot race”
I quipped that if someone had that pointed at them they may die from laughter.

There’s and idea! They can put a tranny face on their gun to open doors to new buyers.
If I would have made that in 7th grade shop class, I would have gotten an “F”
lololol. Looks like took styling cues from H&R.
They should have just cloned the Ruger Security Six.
But it's my observation that the ability to manufacture revolvers like Smith & Wesson and Colt, as they did at the peak of their craftsmanship, is something that has to evolve.
Autoloading handguns can be knocked out like shelling peas. But a slickly manufactured revolver is something that takes decades to perfect.
Those old fellows who worked at Smith & Wesson and Colt spent their lives developing the "touch" to perfect the particular manufacturing process of the revolvers that they performed. They had it worked out to a fine art.
Now they're all dead and the people who replaced them are putting out crude, cheap imitations of the revolvers that were made back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
Manufacturers who are getting in on the revolver manufacturing game today have a century of catching up to do before they will be able to match the craftsmanship of those old Colts and S&Ws.
I've got a Colt Police Positive in .32 long that was made in 1920. Even if somebody *could* match the craftsmanship that it displays, very few people would want to pay what it would cost. I'd guess it would be somewhere around $1800 in 2023 dollars.
The absolute *best* custom gunsmiths out there these days are fabricating one off revolvers that match the quality of the Colts and S&Ws that were mass produced 50 years ago.
No. It's none of those, it's a scaled up version of a High Standard Sentinel, slightly shifted a few lines, added a cheesy cylinder release, and are obviously hoping to sell it based on the success of their infomercials creating a league of "Henry Zombies", despite flogging it for about three times what it's worth... Heritage has a much better plan ("we make crappy revolvers, but hey, they're cheap as
HELL!")
I'll put one in my pecker tongs before I pass judgment.

I have put my dick skinners on several Henry rifles. My cousin has a 17 HMR and a bud has a 22 LR. I just tell them nice rifles but I don't point out their cosmetic flaws.
Haven't seen one yet that I thought was worth owning.
Seem very cheap and unfinished to me.
For what they cost they could make them a little more refined IMO.
It should have no caliber at all and just saying big letters ...like rugers> just for pistol whipping
These things could not shoot good enough to make up for the ugly
Not while there are old Smiths out there.
Refresh my memory. Where are the Smith single actions?
All of Henry's products lean hard to the expensive side. Yet I have a Big Boy 327 in the safe. And yes the tube loading port still offends me, but I can live with it. I have found few things in life meet my ideal of perfection, and I can not afford those that do.
I have zero use for a 357. But if Henry ever builds a single action revolver in 22/22 mag convertible, AND it weighs out a bit less than a Single-six, I will be first in line to buy one.
I might even be convinced to buy this one, were it chambered in 41 special.
Now that I look at it a little more
Love that ejector rod cut under the barrel also.
They could have designed a simple shroud to blend in lines to cover that dumb azz flat spot in the barrel.
Pretty cheesy...
Screams design ineptitude and cheap design....
Along with the 2x4 over all appearance.
I seriously have never seen anyone out hunting or at a range carrying or shooting a Henry firearm.
I think that lone Ranger center fire lever rifle in modern chamberings is one ugly looking rifle...
Someone is buying them...
Have seen them at LGS,s and their rimfire .22,s at wally world.
Coming to a gun show near you....
The Bad Roy revolver..
In his cowboy outfit.....
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Tough crowd. It IS overpriced, based on appearances but I'd expect to see it available for a lot less than MSRP. Who knows...
I'd reserve judgement on it until I've handled one. There are guns out there that are butt ugly, but handle and shoot much better than they look. I find the barrel profile to be kind of "Model 10-ish" and that's appealing to me. The flat underneath the ejector rod, well...hmmm. I'm not gonna go out and look for one, but if I run across one I'm willing to pick it up and examine it.
Those look like pure schitt....
Plain Jane double action service revolvers haven't been popular since the 70's. What were they thinking? You could buy a much nicer S&W for that price.
It looks like they loved the F.I.E design of extremely cheap but decided to price it differently….😂🤮
$260 out the door 15 years ago. 1962 vintage.
I'd probably buy one if it was in the $550-$650 range, but not at the current price point.

Best of luck to them but those revolvers are just flat out ugly. At that price point they’re competing with pre lock Smiths.
No way in hell I’d spend that on a pistol
Yeah I will have to pass on this. The price seems a bit high. The look doesn't quite do it either. But in all honesty I hope they sell a million. The more guns in the hands of law abiding people the safer we will make America.
I’ll be interested to see how it plays out in the real world for them. There are a LOT of time tested revolvers that deserve to be a “more expensive” option….if those sell for anywhere close to MSRP then S&W’s will be suddenly worth twice….
Most pistols that look like those that I’ve seen are stamped “Made in W. Germany” or “Made in Spain”…they’re $150 revolvers on their best day.
Looks to be overpriced by 6 or 700 dollars.
Just a guess but I'm thinking compromises were made for ease of manufacture.
I like Henry as a company. Made in the USA with a satisfaction guarantee, and providing products that other companies don't. This pistol is NOT going to sell at that price point. I hate it for them, but they screwed the pooch on this.
An ugly camp gun priced like a S&W 686. Pass.

Off topic but,
Have you handled a long ranger? The couple I've fondled had great wood, good fit and finish and for me, great ergonomics. Light too. Bit over priced in my opinion. If they were $500-$600 I'd be tempted.
What a slap in the face of American Gunmakers we grew to love.. What a piece of schit!
Henry knocked one out of the park with the 9mm Homesteader carbine, but this.... this looks like a pretty big flop.
H&R blank pistol on steroids! Good for starting a 100 yard dash!
Looks like an H&R screwed a Security Six.
A Security Six would never stoop so low.
The only way these would sell is if they were budget priced. I'd rather spend half that and get a Rossi that looks nice.

Maybe an H&R and an RG?
