What does it mean when someone posts "TAG" in response to a ad?

They're leaving a comment so they can find the thread later easier by searching on their posts. "Tag" for later basically.

It means they are too stupid to just save the thread on their browser, and place it on their toolbar or favorites.

It means they don't know how to use the Follow Thread feature and have to search their posts like Teal mentioned.

It’s like counting coup.

Well it seems that you got me pegged

My dads nickname was Tag as he was one of the younger siblings that liked to tag along whenever wherever the older ones went.

Tag in a classified is someone saving the thread but not necessarily too stupid to save it in their browser, but maybe ignorant of the process.

OTOH, if a person uses the term he/she has automatically bumped the the add to the top of the page or pages. Something the browser fugger didn't help with.
