Well, are ya? cool
This Kentuckian isn't going to vote for Beshear.
I suspect he will beat Cameron. The Repub primary was weird here. Way too many viable candidates ran and they split the vote up. Cameron somehow came out of the primary but he's always struck me as being a pretty weak candidate.

Could be wrong though. We will see.
How do you feel about the alternative, Bristoe?

I thought anybody could beat Andy, but it appears the Repubs were up to the task of selecting the one guy who can’t.

That is exactly how I see it. Of all the candidates running in the GOP primary, Cameron was my least favorite, but I'll vote for him in about an hour.
Although I would have preferred that Ryan Quarles was the GOP candidate. He's a farm boy with a super achiever mind. Kentucky missed a good chance when they didn't make him the candidate.

Never underestimate the ability of the KY state Republican party to shoot themselves in the foot.
Are you going to vote?

Quarles would have made a good governor. And i suspect would have beat Beshear like a drum.

He seems to be on the right side of the issues.

I'm in the "anybody but Beshear", camp. Beshear sent the State Police out to take down the license plates of the cars that attended church during Covid. That was *way* over the top. I'm quite sure the State Police didn't appreciate being used to intimidate date church goers.

Kentucky Republicans have nothing on the ability to Screw Up decisions, when compared to Oregon Republicans.
Besides our democRATS ability to cheat out their asses, I think our Republican ' candidates' are actually democRATS, controlling each side of the aisle. We have "democRATs in REpublican sheep's clothing" just so it gives the illusion of actually having a two party system..... Same in California and Washington State. The Left Coast seems to have gone all Communist several decades ago.
Actually, the GOP legislature in Kentucky is fairly good. They kept Beshear from messing things up as much as he wanted to.

I don't recall saying that I didn't vote in state or local elections. In Presidential elections in the past I said I wouldn't bother voting for McCain or Romney. I still wouldn't.

I won't vote for Nicky Haley either. There's a lot of Republicans at the Federal level that I wouldn't bother voting for if they got the GOP nomination for President.

As for Governor of Kentucky, I like some potential candidates better than others. But offhand, I can't think of any that I wouldn't vote for.
Moose and I took a road trip to Cave Run Lake last weekend and the trip out and back was filled with Bashear signs.

Is that a good place for a visit? I’m wanting to make a few trips up into northeastern Kentucky next year and look around.
I see Beshear ads about 4:1 here in SouthernOhiotuckiana

That's not Kentuckians fault, it all lands on Dominion.

They used Dominion in the mid 80's? Very progressive of Kentucky.
This state has done dumber things before, so who knows at this point.
Kentucky's problem isn't new- - - - -it dates back to the 1860s at least!
Will depend on whether Ky relates Beshear to Biden. If they do, Beshear will not win.

Republican primary in KY a joke. They let demrats vote in the primaries who intentionally vote for weak candidates.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - One viewer had a question about who exactly is allowed to vote in Kentucky’s primary election.

For today’s Good Question, Cynthia asks, Who can vote in the Kentucky primary? Specifically, is it only for registered voters who have declared a party?

Cynthia, it may depend on where you live. According to the Kentucky State Board of Elections, Kentuckians who were registered to vote by April 17 can participate in the primary, but the deadline to change your party registration was December 31 of last year.

I don't know. I think he may have a difficult time pulling the Eastern Kentucky vote. Many in Appalachia still have that "Republicans are for the rich man" mentality. Cameron being black might make them just that much more wary.

Outside of Appalachia, Lexington, and Louisville, Kentucky is a very red state--and even Eastern Kentucky went for Trump in 2016 and 2020. So maybe they're starting to come around.

Red everywhere except Louisville and Lexington in 2020. Lexington is blue and Louisville is black.

Right, but Louisville and Lexington is where all the people are.

Well, there's quite a few people in Northern Kentucky that vote red. (the Cincinnati overflow on the Kentucky side of the river) Western Kentucky has some population centers that are all red, Paducah, Bowling Green, Owensboro.

Might want to ask your kin how Mr. Quarles feels about children, sex changes, etc. I started out a Quarles fan. He talked several of our local magistrates into endorsing him early on. They got to digging and found out that he was not quite as "wholesome" as he pretended to be. Very liberal on the sex change, teaching kids in schools, etc. THEN the magistrates found out that once you "endorse" someone in KY politics, you can not UN-ENDORSE them... mad

TV here is showing a map of the counties either red or blue depending on how they voted for Governor. It's surprising.

Oh well. Beshear is a putz. But it seems like he knows when to stop pushing. I just hope nothing happens that causes him to be on TV for an hour every day like he was during the covid thing.

Andy Beshear -- Busted ...

Andy Beshear watching his son play baseball out of state. When he ridiculed and ripped people for going out of state during this pandemic. Andy Beshear had his mask down. But rips others for not wearing one.We are tired of your little games also Andy. Andy thinks he’s above the law

Once the above photo started getting shared on the WWW, Beshear's 'damage control' squad went to work getting it pulled from every site they could but fortunately some individuals saved it to their hard drive. The below story is his 'damage control' squad's creative attempt at a C-Y-A story after him being busted and photographed...

Kentucky governor pulls son from baseball tournament over mask compliance

Quote
Louisville Courier Journal

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear made a brief appearance at a Middletown baseball tournament Sunday morning but left the scene abruptly, unwilling to let his son play.

"I looked around, and I said, 'This isn’t safe for my kid,'" Beshear said during a Monday news conference. "My kid was supposed to pitch. He loves baseball, and I had to look at him and say, 'In my opinion, this isn’t safe.' We got back in the car and left."

Hours before Beshear announced a single-day state record 979 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, he accompanied his 11-year-old son Will to Crosby Park for an age-group game between the boy's Sun Devils travel team and Derby City baseball. But despite organizers' efforts to ensure a safe environment, Beshear decided the players were packed too close together in the dugouts and that those in attendance were too indifferent to the demands of social distancing.

“I wanted his team there because I felt that we did everything possible to make it be right,” tournament director Shawn Johnson said Monday. “I figured if we could pull it off and everybody else followed suit, then we would be able to continue letting kids play youth sports. ...

“He (Beshear) just felt like more people should be wearing masks, basically.”

Advisory:Kentucky wants travelers returning from these states to quarantine

Though Johnson said he had set up hand sanitizer stations, disinfected the dugouts between games and posted signs reminding spectators to observe social distancing and to wear masks, Sun Devils coach Scott Hammer anticipated that Beshear would not be satisfied with what he saw.

“Andy got out to the game yesterday and realized that the tournament director was addressing some of the guidelines, but not all of them,” Hammer said. “It wasn’t a safe environment for him and his family, so they got in the car and left. ... From what I saw on Saturday, I expected it. You can’t have 25 people sitting under two tents and be social distancing.”

The latest:Kentucky in 'accelerating phase' of pandemic with 258 new cases Monday

Though the Kentucky Supreme Court issued a stay Friday upholding Beshear’s executive order mandating that masks be worn in public spaces, compliance continues to be a challenge, particularly when temperatures climb above 90 degrees.

“The governor is committed to the safety and all Kentucky families,” said Crystal Staley, Beshear’s director of communications. “If we can just get Kentuckians to wear their masks and practice social distancing, we can get this thing under control. We’ve done it once. We know we can do it again. We just have to take a couple of extra steps.’’

Though Staley said Beshear’s decision to leave Sunday’s game “hasn’t precipitated any further action,” several youth baseball administrators expressed concern that extra steps might include shutting down their sports programs as a COVID-19 precaution.

“We have scratched and clawed our way back to the season and got the parents on board,” said Chris Gadansky, executive director of St. Matthews Baseball. “(But) It’s very hard to police grown adults.

“The big picture to me is if you don’t do this and we get shut down again, there goes baseball. That (wearing masks) is a small price to pay. It’s like that old saying: 'This is why we can’t have nice things.'”

More coronavirus news:Kentucky wants to limit private gatherings to 10 people, not 50, due to COVID-19 spike

Billy Crutcher, who coaches another team that played in the tournament, had anticipated Beshear attending games a day earlier and had asked team parents to be respectful and to refrain from critical comments.

“Sunday everybody was kind of antsy about it ‘cause they knew he was coming, so everybody was extra spread out,” Crutcher said. “We have trees on both sides of that field, so there’s plenty of room as far as the shade.”

Following the departure of Beshear’s entourage, Crutcher and Johnson both said they didn’t see the governor get out of his car for a first-hand look. Though Staley said Beshear had emerged from the vehicle, Johnson only spoke to him by telephone.

“The governor was really understanding,” Johnson said. “He just said it wasn’t the best atmosphere for him. He was not angry. He did not say, ‘Cancel the game. Cancel the tournament.’ His team still stayed and played.

“As a dad, I feel bad for the one kid who didn’t get to play. I feel like it’s my fault. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if it’s the governor’s son or anyone else’s son. That child didn’t get to play.”

Disappointing. But not all bad news in that state. Seen that the incumbent republican won the Secretary of State, and that the republican candidate for Attorney General knocked off the incumbent democrat.
Russell Coleman, GOP Attorney General is giving a good victory speech. He's going to be running for Governor next time.

Quite possible. My one data point is one magistrate I go to church with. Was hopping mad after the dirt came up and then he could not retract his endorsement... If your folks have more info regarding the source of the dis-information, I would be interested to understand more about it.
So much for the theory that a Black conservative Republican is just what the GOP has been looking for. Cameron is going to get to beat a lot worse than Bevin did.
I wonder how much the female vote matters here. Papa Andy was beating the abortion drum HARD. Doing his dead level best to frighten sluts... I mean... women to vote for him because Cameron opposed abortion.
The worst part about Beshear winning is somebody pointed a TV camera at him and activated his windbag setting.

I didn't listen much to what he said, but it went on so long that I thought "War and Peace" was being scrolled on the teleprompter.
Beshears had 45% approval from KY Republicans. He was probably one of the top 5 worst goveners on covid. How can a red state re-elect that monster?

Andy was highly thought of because of how he handled the Covid scam. He got on TV and yammered on and cared so much. Pandering liberalism on display it was, a lot of windbaggery. That probably won him the election since he “saved us” in the eyes of the many who suffer from mass formation psychosis.

Cameron is a bland flavor of vanilla. If he’s backed by McConnell not sure we are any worse off for his not winning. This state seems to stay about the same no matter which party wins.
Well, on to the next election one year from now. Times for three fingers of Kentucky Bourbon.

Why was Cameron a bad choice?

He did not have the appeal, nor the name recognition, despite the fact that he was AG. Also, you can call it whatever you want to, but being Black didn't help as there are Kentuckians who didn't vote for him because of that. I really think that may have been his only real "qualification", if you want to call it that. As for me, I didn't care what color he was, I just wanted Beshear gone.

The other GOP candidates on the slate all received upwards of 750,000 votes, while Cameron only got about 625,000. Beshear got around 690,000 votes, while the GOP nominees for Auditor and Secretary of State got around 780,000 votes. So, number wise, the Republican vote was there for a GOP nominee to win the governors race...........had that candidate been a good one.

Cameron was endorsed by Trump and Trump was featured in many of his ads. If he'd won, Trump would have been given credit, but since he lost, does that mean that Trump was the reason he did? No, I don't think so, since this is a state where Trump won in a landslide. It just proves Cameron was not a good choice for the GOP in this election.
So who won?
It appears the majority of Kentucky voters didn't want a Black Governor. he was a bad choice and the people made that clear.

KY voters are schizophrenic, or are they? Republicans outnumber Democrats these days, and local, most state, and national elections go strongly for Republicans, but for some reason they vote for a Leftist puppet Governor? I'm beginning to have my suspicions about that bunch in Frankfort. It seems strange that Democrat Governors down there are awful hard to dislodge. Republicans won in other state offices, but not the Gov.?
A lot of the more conservative pundits are saying that what happened in Kentucky is symbolic of what’s wrong with the Republican party. I think they have a good point.

I don’t doubt that Daniel Cameron is a nice guy, but he represented old school rhino Republicanism. Unless I miss my guess, that kind of Republicanism is pretty much dead.

As we both know, Kentucky politics are sometimes very hard to understand. This is a state that is perhaps as socially and culturally diverse as any state in the nation, and it show it when it comes to politics.
I just wonder if this is still Bevin hangover.

You're right. It wanted to keep slavery, yet didn't want to secede. You can pretty much divide the state up into three geographically, socially, and culturally areas.........western, central, and eastern. Here in Western Kentucky, we are like the rest on the state in name only.
I don't like it. But I'm not particularly worried about Beshear being Governor. The Kentucky State Legislature is Republican. Beshear doesn't even try to push any liberal crap through the Legislature. Those people take pride in denying him anything he wants to do.

The Legislature controls the state. Little Andy just runs around doing photo ops and jumps in front of the TV every chance he gets.

He probably danced a jig when the tornado blew Mayfield away. He knew it was going to mean major TV time for him.

What a fuggin' idiot. Andy is as stupid as Fetterman and FJB.

I grew up *way* down in Western Kentucky. It's much like the deep south. The central part of the state is the south, but it's not as hardcore southern mainly because of the influence of Lexington. Louisville is just another one of those big, mean ass cities on the Ohio River. It would be as bad as St. Louis except for the fact that Louisville cops are even more badass than the population. Eastern Kentucky is Appalachia. Appalachia has its own culture regardless of which state it's in. The culture doesn't recognize state lines.

I've traveled all over the country a few times--not so much anymore. Central rural Kentucky is the only place I want to live. Although Ballard County down next to Missouri wouldn't be a bad place to live. Ballard County has been frozen in time for as long as I know of. It's basically a huge bean field--only has about 4500 people in the whole county. The people all know each other to some extent. Everybody is polite. It's very traditional America. Harrison county next door to here is much like it--except they party harder.
It's interesting to listen to all the scolding about how all fired conservative your state is...and white people in general....then the next day have to listen to all the talk about demographics and regions and such.

It is conservative. It's just that there's a large number of Blue Dog Democrats in Kentucky--many in Appalachia.
Do KY teachers have the option of foregoing the payment of union dues?

Defunding the teacher's unions is always a good move.
There's men in Kentucky who vote Democrat. But let them encounter a Transvestite? They'll tell 'em, "You better get home and put some britches on!--and take off them titties!--hail far".
Voter turn out 38%+- Demonrats kill Repukes on early voting, again.

Any public union member in any state has the right to opt out of a union.

The only counties in West Kentucky that voted for Beshear were Henderson, Davies, and Warren........in other words, the cities of Henderson, Owensboro, and Bowling Green.

Republican Senator, and Daniel Cameron's running mate, Robbie Mills, is born and raised in Henderson and typically a political winner in elections when running by himself...

My guess on the republican's loss this time was due to a combination of pro Beshear public employee's (individuals and groups) and a weak republican gubernatorial candidate.

Beshear BARELY won his first term as governor with the smallest ever vote lead and in my opinion the ONLY reason he won then was primarily due to Teachers and state employees...

An emotional Andy Beshear denounces covert photos of son at baseball games being posted online

Quote
Gov. Andy Beshear on Monday angrily denounced people who he said had been "secretly and covertly" taking pictures of his son at baseball games and posting them online.

Speaking at his daily news conference, Beshear volunteered the information as he answered a question about why he pulled his son, Will, 11, from a baseball tournament Sunday because participants weren't taking precautions against COVID-19, including requiring masks.

He said he believes the photos were meant to send a message.

“I know when people try to post pictures of my kids, what they're really trying to tell me is, we know where you are. We can get to you," Beshear said.

He didn't elaborate on the photos or identify who took and posted them but compared the situation to the Memorial Day weekend Second Amendment rally at the Capitol where protesters, some armed, marched to the Governor's Mansion and stood on the porch calling for him to come out, demanding he resign. Some protesters then returned to the Capitol grounds, where they hung Beshear in effigy.

State police on his executive security team have recommended a fence around the mansion following that incident.

While saying he believes children should be "off-limits," Beshear on Monday answered a question about the baseball tournament this way:

"I thought that what happened when the armed protesters walked through the barriers at the Governor’s Mansion and walked up to the porch and heckled and wanted me to come outside and hung me in effigy would be one of the toughest days on my family during my term as governor," Beshear said. "But a couple of weeks ago, somebody started secretly and covertly taking pictures of my son at his baseball games and posting them online. Yeah. I hope everybody out there knows that’s something you should never do, no matter what, no matter who’s the parent of that kid. That is really wrong."

Beshear didn't provide further details, and state police didn't respond to a request for comment about whether the situation had triggered an investigation.

But Beshear said he was sorry his son had been pulled into the spotlight after they left the baseball tournament Sunday.

"He doesn’t deserve that," he said "He doesn’t deserve any of this.”

The Memorial Day effigy hanging brought outraged condemnations and prompted Beshear to declare: "I will not be afraid. I will not be bullied. And I will not back down."

Beshear acknowledged as he ended Monday's press conference that he got "a little bit emotional" regarding whoever posted the photos.

"But again, I am not going to be bullied by you," he said. "We’re doing the right thing to protect people’s lives. We’re doing the right thing to protect our economy. And it takes a small person to go after somebody’s kids."

He encouraged people to use social media for good, including sharing information about how to avoid COVID-19.

"Let’s try to make sure that if people do go to the internet and social media that we are putting good, positive things out there, that we are showing them that the vast majority of their neighbors are wearing masks and social distancing," he said. "Don’t let a small group ultimately take control of a means of information."

But what we conservative Republican voting Kentuckians are dealing with is a L-O-N-G history of wasteful liberal Democrat control of KY politics:

"Firearms" are the third rail of Kentucky politics. Bevin had Constitutional carry implemented before he left office. The Republican legislature won't allow anything that changes that. Of course, if the Commies in D.C. put the Feds on it there won't be much that can be done on the state level.

You can thank Lincoln for that. The war of northern aggression allows Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco, California to dictate to residents of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

He can win because there are nearly as many democrats in Kentucky are there are republicans, and when almost have of the republican party approves of the democrat governor, that is a solid math equation for reelection. Up until last year, or maybe the year before, Kentucky had more democrat voters than republicans.

Kentucky is not the red sea that many people and the media claim it is. Yes, Kentucky has voted red in federal elections since 2000 or so, but that's not the case for state and local elections. It was just in the last 5-6 years that republicans got a majority in the state house of representatives for the 1st time in almost a century. We have only had 4 republican governors in the last 75 years, and none were reelected.

I’ve been saying it for years and the good guys like Salmonella in California have been dealing with it even longer. Washington, like Kentucky or Texas or Montana has a strong conservative base but unfortunately while there might be MORE than 50% of the population here that is conservative and votes for conservatives the population centers are what drives the liberal bent. The big cities and counties hold the densest populations of liberals that only want handouts, free stuff and no responsibilities while the rest of the state works. Liberals drive their “success” through their ability to gerrymander…if gerrymandering isn’t feasible then they’ll stuff ballot boxes and outright steal the election one liberal run precinct at a time.

The days of laughing at those of us stuck, or in my case previously stuck, behind enemy lines in the states that we grew up in are over. Anyone that laughs at conservatives in liberal run states won’t be laughing SOON. NO STATE is safe from the monolithic liberal movement of election corruption and the outright THEFT of our democracy. The liberal knows how to “win” elections through the adoption of a “No Rules” anarchist’s playbook. Anyone that thinks they are immune from the bullshit that the left has done here or in any currently “liberal state” is dangerously deluded…..our once conservative state was overrun with liberals and THEY destroyed it. Even at the “equilibrium” point of liberal versus conservative population there comes a point where the conservative WON’T be allowed to win…it happened here when we elected Dino Rossi governor 3 times but the liberals forged thousands of ballots, found vans filled with ballots and lied under oath….

It’s coming to every state soon….Texas is purple so not much more needs to be said, unfortunately. I’ve been suggesting to guys that feel “safe” that before you laugh at the guy with a speck of dust in his eye you should remove the nail from yours….anyone that has the false sense of security that accompanies living in a conservative state is NOT someone I’d take seriously.

All it takes is for R's to vote, alas they do not.
If 45% of republicans actually approve of Papa Andy's job performance, I can only imagine that is because so many of them are oldsters that swear that Dear Leader's swift, decisive action in shutting down businesses saved SO many lives from the scourge of COVID...

Yep. Boomers ate that up like fiber pills and Viagra.
KY is only state in the siutheast with a dem gov, right?

I guess NC still has one, but won't last through next election.

Probably gonna put their electoral votes towards O'Biden and Harris, too.
Between KY, PA, GA and WI, there is no way we are taking WH again.

they'll elect a Thomas Massie and a Rand Paul, but then Mitch McConnell and Beshear, chase out Bevin for fighting with the teachers union but will vote Trump by a big %

Kentucky votes Republican in national elections. A Democrat governor has absolutely nothing to do with electoral votes. By the way, Kentucky probably would have elected a GOP candidate as governor if the "woke" Republicans hadn't have picked a Negro in the primaries.
