Tough one. Handsome Harley was quite the stud but ol Dusty could spit while talking with the best of them.

Osky
Dusty Rhodes was the best!

Ron
Neither.

Haystacks Calhoun or Bruno Samartino would blow 'em away.
Dutty Woads!
Dusty...
Cowboy Bob Kelly could take them both at the same time.
Dusty

Not even close
I guess Dusty....the other fellow must have been before my time.
Dusty
Bo Bo Brazil

Of the two Dusty.
Haystacks Calhoun had an International Harvester Travel-All with heavy duty springs. I worked in a factory branch in the 70s and he used to come in frequently for parts. My dad said he had a pair of Dobermans turn on him. Supposedly strangled them both.
Dusty.

Next- Dick the Bruiser.

Harley. He was an old school real deal tough guy.
Roddy Piper
Harley Race beat Dusty several times, and body slammed Andre twice.
The Green Bastard

LOL
Harley Race was a mean sob! Liked Dusty also!
Wahoo McDaniel
Johnny weaver was the Steve Garvey of wrestling........

I enjoyed brute benard.......
Race was so tough he didn’t need a stage name. He would open up some whoopass in a beer joint after a bout or match. Crack some skulls over them pool tables.

🤙
No better match ever than when Wahoo McDaniel knocked Boris Malenko's dentures out of his mouth then stomped on them.

There was and maybe still is a Saloon in Golden Valley MN just west of where they filmed All Star Wrestling.
The boys came in afterwards a lot and with some libations things got fun there every now and again.
Of them all, when the pair just started out the Road Warriors were quite the imposing deal. Hawk was a great guy and friend who burned himself out way too soon.

Everybody wants to be a Freebird, baby.

The Von Erichs never had a bitchin 80's-riffic music video.

Jerry Mucilek!
Dan Gable.
My BIL used to do all that back in the 80's
Not a headliner, one of the guys the big names
beat on and got the match over with quickly.
There's wrasslin slang for all that, but I can't
remember any of it. I was going to go to the
school myself back then, but I was doing too
good at work and didn't want to go on the road.
Met those freebird dudes. Michael P.S. gave
me the 45 record and a tshirt and Big (!) Terry
gave me an autographed bottle of Jack black
out of his case he drank like Dr Peppers.
The Von Erichs are buried across the bushes
from my mother and father. I think it's Kevin
that is still with us. The rest are all in the one
little area
Miss the old Sportatorium days and Bill
Mercer and Marc Lowrance
Back in the early 80’s I worked out at an Old School gym in East Columbus. One time 2 monstrous guys showed up and paid for a one day pass. They were playing with 405lbs on incline bench. They were next level strong. When they left we looked at the roster where you sign in. It said Road Warriors. It was Hawk and Animal who were in town for an event.

"Dusty" Rhodes was a fellow who owned a local trucking company in Van Meter Iowa. His real name was not Dusty but since he hauled predominately gravel for road building the name Dusty stuck. After he passed his son took over the company and it did not last long until it went bankrupt. Anyway, all of his trucks had Dusty Rhoades Trucking on the door.

Wrong one. This Dusty was from Texas.

Of those two, Handsome Harley Race. But I was really a fan of Bulldog Bob Brown.

Mad Dog Vachon for the win

Ha
Dusty was probably the best “trash talker” in the game. But like Dizzy Dean once said, “It ain’t bragging if you can do it. “
He was plumber from Waxahatchie TX I believe. I saw an interview where he was asked about what it takes to be a plumber: 1. Don’t bite your fingernails. 2. Crap won’t run uphill. 3. Paydays on Friday. Use to carry my sons to live local events. They loved it. It was hard to keep the trailer level afterwards. They practiced on each other. Older son went to a school and did some small time events in OK and western AR. Loved to trash talk the fat girls and play the villain. Got into weightlifting in college and it sorta went from there. The older ones were tuff SOBs. Go to YouTube and see some of the Memphis stuff. I’ve seen Bruno in the Memphis Colesium. One of my custodians on the Rez where I was principal, wrestled. Seems like Haystack was the promoter and we would visit when he came to see Troy Chickaway.
