I

I have not
Posted By: BFaucett Re: The Eiffel tower - 03/02/24
Way back in 1968, I stood underneath it but didn't go up. I did climb to the very top of the Tower of Pisa (leaning tower) in Italy.

BTW, did you know there is a (much smaller) Statue of Liberty on the River Seine in Paris?

Cheers! Bob F. smile

La Tour Eiffel. Been to Paris 11 times over the years. The tower is a presence from certain neighborhoods in the city, one looks up and it’s just there.
Climbed the 162 steps to the Statue of Liberty’s crown during a trip to NYC in the early 1960’s. Used to have the red ticket stub. Was also on the observation deck of the Empire State Building on this trip.

Nope. The pilot of the Bonanza:

Robert J. Moriarty

Born September 9, 1946
Schenectady, NY, USA

Robert J. Moriarty (born September 9, 1946) is an American Marine F-4B fighter pilot who holds the record as the youngest naval aviator (at age 20) in the Vietnam war, achieving the rank of captain in the Marines at age 22. Before leaving military service in 1970, he recorded 824 combat missions.

He holds 14 international aviation records including the record for flight time between New York to Paris in two different categories. In 1984, at age 37, he was in the headlines for flying, on March 31 at 11:20, between the pillars of the Eiffel tower aboard a Beechcraft Bonanza aircraft.

First time we were there the top was closed due to ice. We made it to the second landing where the ice skating rink is in the winter. Next time we were there when it opened and made it to the top. It takes to separate elevators to make it to get there.

I went to Paris when I was around 5 and went to the top observation deck. I'm unsure if they let people up there any more. I lived in New York until I was 9 and only went to the Statue of Liberty right before we moved to Georgia. I also went to the Twin towers the same day. I took the kids back to New York after 9-11 and we planned on going to the State of Liberty but this was right after hurricane Sandy and it was closed. Some where I have a picture of me standing at the eternal flame at the Arc De Triomphe .
Shame what has happened Paris since the government and people became woke and let the muzzles take over.
