Is there any use for chains where the teeth are down to nubs?
I have maybe 30-40 chains after 30+ years of heating with wood and I can't bring myself to toss them.
Do you keep empty spray paint cans too? LOL
You can cut them and mix a bit of paint with a drill...
But honestly this is better...
https://www.walmart.com/ip/GoodCook...lloon-Whisk-Set-Assorted-Sizes/495930977Or snake a drain pipe...
Otherwise... I got nothing.
I didn't know if a knife maker could use them?
May not be viable if they are different grades of metal.
My boy has used them for some of his welding art.
My boy hasn't been doing much of that lately, you could pm goalie and see I f he could use them for the same.

Nah, I send those to some landscaper out in Oregon, he gets the last couple of huffs out of them.

Probably not.
Could hang some AR500 plates with them, but honestly fire-hose is better.

I have used a couple to keep water out of my trailer's jack-stand riser... cut the bottom out.
I admit it is kinda brokedick.
They make great shop decorations hanging by a nail in my shop!
Usually, they are pretty worn out when I change, but there's always a chance I will need one one day... LOL. But I doubt it.
Use βem to beat the stuffing out of Cornpop. π
I keep a few around just in case I have to use a saw on something I know will wreck a good chain.
Beyond that, they go in a bucket for a trip to the scrap yard.
Forge into Damascus knife blades!
Ive seen them made into interesting Damascus.
For what is coming up this summer in mass Civil disobedience with a little ingenuity I would think they could be made into an admirable chain flail. Your only limited by.your imagination.
Threads like this help me realize I am not the only one using worn out stuff for wall hangers. Have a lot of stuff I should just throw away.
I throw them on the work bench with the rest of the sh'it I'll never see again.

This has got legs^^^^
Pro-tip......spiral wrap a chain around a baseball bat and it can be used for pesky illegal migrants, since you have quite a few chains you can make many bats, good for gifts at Christmas.
Could be fun out of a shop built cannon...
Good thread...
Gots me a thinking about that 4" pipe out back.

Same here, I keep 3 or 4 if I have to cut something in the dirt like a root, otherwise they go to the metal recycler.
I started to post a thread ''ever get tired of junk that doesn't run right?''
This old Poulan has always been a POS- it got the small sledge-hammer treatment 3-4 days ago. The blue surrounding is the inside of my rolling trashcan.
Recently pulled down all of the ones I had up. About a dozen
Down to the nubs got 86βd
Have a few that ate some fence, beyond my filing desires/abilities. Was gonna let the Cyclops Sloth down at the Co-Op give em a good grinding to see if they could be brought back into service.
Thing is they want $8 to sharpen them. I can get new Oregon chains for about $10 from Bezos. 14β stove wood chains for my baby 170 and 220 AP
meh
Raeford,
I can send you the old chain off of this Saw, Bar too, heck I'll send it all to you - PM your address.

Yeah I need to move a bunch off the nails on the wall and into that bucket where they'll sit for a couple more years until I bother to haul em out. I do need to make a scrap metal run soon though.

Didn't ever think I'd like to have a chain grinder until my dad gave me the old Oregon unit he's had for decades. Don't want it mounted on my bench so I bolted a chunk of 2x4 to the bottom of it for clamping it in the vise. Does come in handy to straighten one out after too many quick impatient filings.

I kid you not- it put me in a great mood.

I'm[happily] down to one Poulan Pro tool, a leafblower that starts/runs flawlessly.
The last to go was a Wild Thang saw that I wound up tossing down a hillside and never looked back.
Toss em off a bridge and let them Magnet Fishing dumbasses grab-a-holt of em as if theyβve won a prize.
Tit Tok magnet fishing
We cut them with a chop saw and hang shovels, hoes, rakes, pipe, lumber, and so on all in our barn.
I have done the steel target thing and they work very well for that.
I have welded them onto BBQ pits for hinges. Cut small and stacked five or six side by side....works great.
its just a steel rope in my eyes.

If'N I had a close place to shoot- I'd have got the Pooplan saw going one more time. Zip-Tie it wide open throttle and shoot it with the 300wm .

Turn them inside out and wrap them around a bat.
Yes. With an attached handle, probably good in a street fight.
I keep one handy. use it for cutting ice holes for fishing. the rest of the dang things for the last 35 years hang like a spider web made by a spider on pcp from a spike just inside the door of a out building. slowly forming one big glop of rust. some 16" some 26" and some 42". maybe i will take the mess to the fair and enter it in the art thingy.
