We all understand AR's can be accurate, and that Mini-14's generally are not.

Those of you who have shot Kel-Tec's various .223's, how accurate are they?

And, any reliability issues?

Wow - not very popular with the Campfire crowd.

Maybe they're out trying to hit something with one now. grin

I bought the SU16A last year. There is much to like about it, particularly its accuracy, which I'm sure would be even better in hands more skilled than mine. I have not had the chance to shoot it enough to attest to its long term reliability, but I can tell you it is light, accurate enough and fun to shoot. It kicks more than one would expect. I have included a couple of reviews.

Accuracy is hard to judge with factory sights, but seems OK.

I have had trouble with the mag catch with factory mags, and worse with high cap aftermarket. The extra mag storage in the stock is sensitive to weight - even the 10 rounders on the one I handled sometimes dropped out when loaded. I have had failure to function of various sorts.

The fold up bipod is only really useful to lay it down without getting it in the dirt. Not useful for shooting IMO.

I would not use the one I shot for self defense as it's not reliable enough for my tastes. It's not bombproof but OK for a hobby gun. The price is certainly lower than others listed.

FWIW, I hear they are very good about reworking balky units (pistols at least), if you have the time to buy it then return it then get it back.

I ended up with one on a trade deal and have had some fun with it, I have a few thousand rds of Federal 52gr hollowpoints which this SU16 seems to like to run @ 1 3/4 on an average, shot some a tad smaller and larger, no jams or malfunctions yet, it is easy to strip and clean, I mounted a Simmons 6X Prohunter in Weaver rings, I like to take it Yote hunting for close work and when I get outnumbered and have to shoot my way out, it takes AR mags and I just pop a 20 rounder in and good to go, doubt I would buy one new outright but it sure packs nice and fun to lay some fire on running Yotes.I havent tried feeding it any handloads yet but I did read a review on them and the fellow seemed to get @ an inch with 40 grain Btips
