WAY OFF TOPIC: I'm looking to buy a new electric shaver. What's the best? What say you? Thanks...
Dont buy the Remington.
That thing was bought for my late Dad a few years ago for Father's day and was a POS.
The Norelco we replaced it with was much better.

Kinda like asking what the best instant coffee is.

I've tried several over the years, and they just don't cut it compared to hot water, shaving cream and a sharp razer.

That's my story too. Braun was the best electric, but it doesn't match a properly used blade.

Norelco/Philips
can't help you. I don't shave. smile

If you're looking to actually remove whiskers so your face is smooth, it would be one with a handle, blades, and no electrical power source.
I have three electrics but still have to use a blade if I let my beard grow for more than two days.

I have a tiny AA-battery Braun for travel, a Panasonic wet/dry and a Philips/Norelco tri-blade. The darn little Braun gives me the best shave, oddly enough. It does help to use Williams Lektric-Shave pre-shave lotion, and you really do have to use an electric every day or the whiskers just get pushed over instead of cut.

Whatever the best electric might be, I'd bet THIS ONE is NOT it!

Have tried a handful over the years, they all suck. I've even followed the recommendation of 'breaking in' your face by using them daily for several weeks or longer, they still suck compared to cream and a razor.
i use a Braun wet/dry mainly for convenience

still does not give a better shave than traditional razor

Thanks to those who actually answered the question...

Had the best luck with Braun while a Remington screen type was so so. Tried a rotary type and it wouldn't do squat on me.

Absolute best shave is with a straight razor. Kind of neat also.

Straight razor. Never found an electric that would shave me and safety razors make me bleed. Bear

The Brauns will shave me (although I do run through screens and cutters a lot quicker than 18months or whatever they claim,) but nothing like a straight razor.

Are you meaning the reusable safety razors that are stropped or the disposable type? Never tried the strop/reuse type, but the disposables never worked for me, never a close shave and plenty of razor burn. The straight razor really surprised me on that one with no razor burn from using it and really not many nicks, but the first few uses were an adrenaline rush due to the "holy [bleep] that's sharp and right below my eye" factor. smile

I like the remington--actually, the cheaper model$25 or so is just fine.--Bill
Everyone's face (skin) is different. I use the Norelco, have tried the Remington and it just chews my face up.
I'm 45 and on my second Norelco. They just keep on running.

Never had one and I've had several that didn't chew my face up. Three four days and I had to put them all in the drawer to be given away later.
