This email was forwarded to me through the grapevine from a Vet in Texas:

I had a doctors appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found something very interesting I would like to pass along. While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions:

1. Did I feel stressed?
2. Did I feel threatened?
3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone?

The nurse then informed me, if I had answered yes to any of the questions, I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security.

I am a Vietnam vet and 15 year cc permit holder. Looks like they are going after us vets.. Be forewarned and be aware. The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun owners as potential terrorists. If you are a veteran, you've been warned. If you know veterans, please pass this on to them.
The most they've ever asked me was on a scale of one to ten...how much pain was I feeling???
I think maybe he was there to see a shrink???
Maybe related to meds he's taking???

Just got a reply from a guy in Mississippi who did a sleep study recently.

Those three questions were at the bottom of the questionnare he filled out.

This is apparently something new, because I filled out a pain questionanare on the 7th and they weren't there.

Whether it is true or not..

bottom line is.. only a fool trusts Obama and his administration...

The Government does not need an ounce of information about my life.. because their possession of it, in no way provides me with any benefit, but threatens me with a lot of potential detriment..

same as it does any other citizen in this country..

Why was he involved in a sleep study?

I don't recall the exact questions, but I've been asked similar questions at VA appointments.

I don't know whether there is an actual connection between VA records and gun rights, but it's possible. In our county to get a Permit to Purchase (not carry) you have to give the sheriff access to your medical records, specifically including VA. Apparently that's contained in the Iowa Administrative Code.

I do recall a VA nurse asking if I was depressed. My response was "I'm in Iowa in the middle of winter."

I get those same questions every time I go see the VA, it is part of their standard battery now since their have been so many service member suicides. Be very careful on how you answer them. Les

Agreed, and not just the VA.

I was recently assigned a new primary care doctor at VA. At the first appointment, he asked a whole series of questions that seemed to me to be of little medical relevance, like my sons' ages, names, and where they lived.

I have talked with at least one doctor who doesn't think that much of a patient's history is of much clinical value.

We had to get new Dr's when we went from TriCare prime to Standard. When filling out the questionnaire, I put None of Your business on the questions on firearm ownership, and they asked about it. I told them, if I have or don't have firearms does absolutely nothing with effecting my healthcare, and if i caught them asking my children, we would be getting new Dr's. Les
