Anybody besides me notice that a lot of threads here end up as pizzing matches anymore? I was going to post on the "Best John Wayne Quote" thread, but after 2 pages of fighting I lost interest. I find myself spending less time on 24 hour campfire because of it. What gives?

Ron
Well lets hope the thread you started doesn't end up that way. New here and like "most" of what I see.
It's the end of January. Things will cheer up by April.
Been that way for a while now. When I first joined, and for years thereafter, some discussions would get heated, but most of the time a member would be called on it if he delved into nothing more than slinging mud. Slinging mud has become pretty much the norm over the last few years. I think it started during the last presidential primaries, and once that pattern got established, it just stuck.
Ya think it could be cabin fever? (grin)

Ron

I guess it might be cabin fever for some. I have been here for ten years. It had been a fun ride most of the time but sometimes a guy can just post a Good Morning and will get seven pages telling him why he has now idea waht a good morning is.

Then there are others with egos so big they will tell you they invented Good Mornings.

When threads go down hill I just ignore them and get on with life. Well, usually I do. grin

Great bunch or people here. Some days we all get out of bed on the wrong side and then saddle up with a huge burr under the saddle blanket.

All in all it is still a great place. I look at the bright sides. This group has done some wonderful things. Most of those who will bight your head off in a post will be the same guys who will dig deep if you find yourself in big trouble.

I don't like the bickering and personally I think some of the soft porn is a little out of hand. But that is just me.
that could explain it if you are far enough north.
Anywhere north of Key West will do it.
So, what is your favorite John Wayne quote? Tend to bounce over the wrangling and just read the items that the others send through.
Carry overs from the political discussions, where you expect a bit of tension, or from some disagreement on who is the expert on some gun advice or something, I dunno.
Don't let it stop you from your comments, I enjoy hearing all that from everyone
we are headed near Orlando to visit friends the end of Feb. hopefully warmer than here.

Bite me smile

Happens every year.....like clock work!!
My favorite Quote from the Duke is from Big Jake "Your fault, my fault, nobody's fault. I'm gonna blow your head off".

Ron
I have three from John Wayne and one as the Duke.
-Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.

-Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.
John Wayne

-If you've got them by the balls their hearts and minds will
follow.

As the Duke
John T. Chance (Rio Bravo):
"Sorry don't get it done, Dude."

I like that one. Thanks for sharing

shocked The disturbed chest beating in front of a mirror to feed their ego. GW

That just seems to be the way it is when most of the seasons close and guys get locked in the house with little to occupy them.
every year about this time, the bickering starts.Well, for some people it starts earlier(fugging green bay fudge packers) laugh

No, you aren't the only one to notice...hope that helps. smile

I have noticed a shift towards civility in the last week or so. It seems I haven't been called azzhole, dick cheese, or labeled with other similar terms for awhile.

I am beginning to worry that those who toss those sobriquets have have fallen upon bad times and no longer frequent these pages.

Please return. I am in need of some merriment.
I am still here for you buddy! grin

Toss it to me.

You're SO right on that..

I go into town for coffee, to get out of the shop for a half-hour, and notice that everybody seems to be a bit more tense and irritable than normal.. 'Course, we haven't seen the damned SUN for three solid weeks and for those of us who can be affected by a lack of sunlight we tend to get a LITTLE TESTY!!!

And NOW IT'S SNOWING AGAIN - FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME.. GGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR..

Hey, January's almost GONE!! One more day closer to spring!!!

Valium - yeah, THAT'S the ticket....

Actually,I find daylight spectrum bulbs, and lotsa caffeine helps.
