It would make a usable combination coffee table and guess bed until it's needed elsewhere.

The weirdness never stops.

Someone's grim diagnosis turned out to be incorrect? The reports of their pending demise was greatly exaggerated? grin

Guess that's the positive way to look at the ad? smile

I know of some students at college who had a casket to house a pet snake. Weird having a casket in their living room.

Maybe the current owner has decided to be cremated.

Maybe it was a prize in a drawing from a funeral home doing a little creative marketing.

The big box store's like Costco, Walmart and Sam's Club have been selling caskets for a good while now. Obviously, they're for individuals wanting to avoid the big mark-up that funeral homes add on. After seeing the funeral bill's from some deceased relatives I can understand why some might consider a DIY.

A few years ago, it was all the rage to "buy a casket now before prices rise."

People did.

Some things just don't make sense.

Sooner or later everybody needs one, when you need one you don't know it, the person that needs one, never hardly ever, buys one.

My guess? It's hot. Try query ADN's history for funeral home hold-ups. (I never put anything past an illustrious (growing) few in Anchorage.)

Someone intended to be buried, but got cremated to save money.

Must of hit a sale on them and felt the need to stock up. Y2K left-over? grin

You don't have one? I thought everyone did. I store my do-it-yourself embalming kit in it.

Somebody didn't have nobody.

Some folks just don't know the value of what they have wink
When " Private road " Dead End " Keep out " and even a " If you can read this , you are in range " signs don't stop the dumb azzes from wanting to see where this lil dirt road goes , an apropriatly placed coffin ( or coffin cover in this case ) does have the effect of making strangers really feel unwelcome and when placed in sight of the last possible place to turn around ..... well let's just say that there has been some gravel flying and we gotta go back and fill the ruts in the road the next day whistle

A riddle:

He who builds it does not need it.
He who buys it does not use it.
He who uses it does not know it.
What is it?

My crazy hunting buddy had one in his front yard, used it for waterproof storage plus shock effect. He is 65 going on 16 and is a hoot.
