Got an invite to some after-hours thing where you can purchase at employee discount. Anyone know what that is???

An opportunity to stock up on much needed stuff cheaply?
A chance to buy the stuff at an actual fair market price?
Not a helluva lot I need... but always one or two things I want. wink

Invite is to Club After Hours Signature Member party on the 18th at the store in Buda, Tx., 7:30 to 10:30, complimentary food and drinks, invitation only. Buy with your Cabela's Club Visa and get the employee discount.

Just trying to find out what that is!

Vegas does the same thing all the time to unsuspecting folks. Leave the cash and credit card at home...go party and take their freebies. Learn from watching others in their stupidness. A Party Atmosphere makes people really stupid...watch and learn.
Watch and learn?

Read and learn: Spent plenty of time in Vegas over the decades, thank you, and it wasn't to get stupid or gamble.

The simple question was whether anyone knows what the Cabela's employee discount is.
I have been told the employees discount is 20 percent. Not too bad.
I got the same invitation to the Buda store but I'm going to be out of town. I'm curious to see if it's really worth going.
If I remember correctly from previous "coupons" the employee discount is 10% off.
Snooping the web I see:

35-40% range for Cabelas brand clothing
20-30% on other clothing - depends on mfr.
10-20% on hard goods, on the upper end for Cabelas brand anything
7-10% on electronics
less than that on guns/ammo
20% might be worth it, depending on the item, especially when combined with points. 10% wouldn't be worth the drive. Guess I'll call them and find out. Will let you know.
If I worked for them and got a 20% discount, we'd starve.
I have yet to hear of anyone who attended one of these functions, and came away happy.

As much as I hate box stores I have found Sportsmans Warehouse to be cheaper than Cabelas on about everything and I don't have to pay shipping.

I've attended a couple of the "invite-only" parties at Cabelas, and found them quite enjoyable. If you actually need something, it's a great time buy it at a discount. Even if you don't buy anything, Cabelas provides food and drink (beer, even!). It's a fun time and you should definately attend.
To report back... The discount was variable. Only 5% or so for guns, up to 20-25% on some things. Didn't have time to stick around for the free roast beef dinner, drinks and band (wife and I had dinner plans elsewhere), but did snap up a nice pair of Merrell lightweight hikers.
