Seems odd that Bachmann polled so high and that Perry polled so low.

Those pesky RP supporters. How can grown adults take any satisfaction in such sophomoric behavior? +++++++++++++++++++++++++
Townhall.com criticizes Ron Paul supporters for straw poll antics The State Column | Staff | Friday, December 16, 2011
Conservative news website Townhall.com criticized Ron Paul supporters for straw poll antics prior to releasing the final results for the Townhall/HotAir Primary Thursday. More than 250,000 votes were cast over a 52-hour period from Tuesday through Thursday. Townhall.coms Jonathan Garthwaite called the Townhall/HotAir Primary the largest and most secure digital poll of conservatives ever.
A glitch in the programming allowed people to put the same candidate in as a 1st and 2nd choice. Ron Pauls folks did it 50% of the time, Townhall.com said on the Townhall.com Presidential Straw Poll Facebook page.
The other candidates people did it less that 2% of the time. Whats that say about Ron Paul voters? Taking their ball and going home? Townhall.com added.
This is not the first time that Mr. Pauls supporters have been accused of straw poll antics. Conservative talk show host Bill OReilly pulled a straw poll from his website, claiming that Mr. Pauls supporters had slammed his straw poll with votes.
According to Townhall.com, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich won the Townhall/HotAir Primary with 36.5 percent of the votes. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney pulled 18.8 percent of the votes for a second place finish. Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann garnered 17.7 percent of the votes for a third place finish and Mr. Paul pulled in 17.4 percent of the votes for a fourth place finish.
The articles author, Mr. Garthwaite, posited that with 45% of readers sticking to their support of Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul and Rick Perry, and with three weeks to go before Iowa, it appears the race hasnt become any more solidified than it was a month ago.
I wanted to like Bachman but she skeered me off months ago....she had her moments last night, really slapped Newt and RP both, but there's something creepy about her.
one of my partners said today she reminds men of their horrible first wife. I'm still on my first so can't speak to that, but I think it's a given she'll run really well in Iowa.
yeah, he is beyond creepy...and the whole keeping a couple of dozen teenage chick therapy patients as foster kids thing is a little too strange for me.

I was ready to see TRH come around the corner. lol

Can you guys believe that freaking Romney supported a ban on assault weapons years ago. What a pos. Oh, uh y'all were talking about RP? Uh, what for, we can always pull for Romney?
I think a "first wife" is probably better presidential material than one we would be happy living with. And as far as the foster kids are concerned, I'm not going to fault her for that. If there were something improper, someone would have dug it up (or made it up) by now. But she's not my first choice unless it comes down to her vs Barry.

Well, at an est 1.2 mil in gov reimbursement to temporary house (some were there a just few months) teenagers with "eating disorders" the opportunism begins to show.
Bachmann...as obnoxious as Nancy Pelosi, only she's a Republican.
And why didn't TheRealHawkeye post this little factoid on this poll, since he's so enthusiastic to post anything and everything Ron Paul?? Ahhh...the illusion blows away on the wind.
How about a Conservative/Libertarian targeted poll?
Here is how bad it is for Paul.
Hot Air is a non-scientific on-line conservative poll. But it is a very large conservative poll and they make a real effort to only let those conservatives vote once.
I think it is a very good snapshot of conservative voter enthusiasm.
Over 7500 ballots were cast is this December 2, poll.
I seriously doubt Paul has much of a chance but I'm glad to see more folks are taking notice of his ideals.
Too many needy libs who want coddled by the government and neocons who think it's our duty to stick our nose in every corner of the world for a person like RP to ever win a national election.

329 (4%) Moderate ballots 115 (1%) Other ballots 19 (0%) Liberal ballots
Gingrich 49% 3764 votes No one else is even close.
Three way tie for a very distant second place: Perry 13% 981 votes Romney 12% 891 votes Cain 10% 745 votes
Three way tie for last place: Santorum 6% 440 votes Paul 5% 404 votes Bachmann 5% 368 votes
So with Libertarians making up 10 percent of the vote, Ron Paul comes in at 5 percent?
Now heres the kicker:
The HotAir pollster was asked why he included Palin in a survey question, now that shes out.
This is why:
Two choices for President: Gingrich 79% 5393 votes Romney 21% 1427 votes
Three choices for President: Gingrich 42% 2863 votes Romney 14% 944 votes Palin 44% 3013 votes
It's something how many of you talk how worthless the political polls are unless of course it shows what you want to see. Then you whoop and holler, "look at the polls,..look at the polls".

well, actually it depends on the poll. polls are pretty worthless that are self-selecting, where the sample volunteers itself....like the online polls that Paulies love to spam as if the result proves something.
and polls between generic democrats or republicans and a specific human are not very predictive of behavior between two specific human candidates.
and, of course, any poll taken eleven months before an election, even if it is a good poll, is only a snapshot of the situation in December 2011, which may bear little resemblance to the situation in November 2012.
But a poll of a fairly good sized national sample probably gives a fairly accurate picture of the current relative strengths of the candidates with HotAir's audience, FWIW. But it's only a sample of that cohort...not of the voting public.
I hear you. Just yesterday I heard some major dumb ass ask why we were flying planes over Iran anyways.
I mean, what kind of moron is that clueless;aside from the other clueless,of course?
I think ol' Ron probably ripped his drawers with the non-CodePink set with that performance. I thought he was going to kick into full frontal self-destruct mode and start hollering to liberate Palestine and that American troops murdered a million Iraqis...again.
if you want to see how delusional the Paul cultists are, check out their web sites where they are showing the clip of Bachman making Paul her little bitch on Iran......and high fiving each other that Ron owned her on that question.
PS...to be fair and balanced, she punked ol' Newt pretty bad, too, but at least his fans aren't delusional about it.

Well I did start a threadRon Pauls IOWA Anti-Newt Attack ads are Working showing him in first place and that sure aint what I want to see.
When I started my Gingrich vs. Romney and Paul in the Polls: thread I prefaced it with:
Front Runners in the Latest Polls: Always keeping in mind that on Dec. 1, 2007 early polls gave us Giuliani and Hillary as front runners
That is something well worth keeping in mindbut polls are about all we have to measure withsome are better than othersI like the RCP poll averages.
All poll measurements are only good on the day postedpolls cannot forecast the future worth a $hit, because $hit happens.
Front runners fallDark horses enter racesThird parties spilttimes get better or worse than expected Wars trump all

Now that RP finally loses one, the old-line NeoCons are all over it.....
yeah, he is beyond creepy...and the whole keeping a couple of dozen teenage chick therapy patients as foster kids thing is a little too strange for me.
Over half a million kids in foster care right now, in the USA. Lots of foster parents out there, and they understand Bachman. I've got two foster kids in the house right now. Over 15 in the last 5 years have come and gone. In a few hours, they'll wake up and we are going hunting. It's either folks step up and become foster parents, or kids spend their youth in mental institutions and residential treatments centers.
Calvin...I'm all for foster parenting....but the Bachman's situation was a quite a bit weirder than that. You can google up the details if you want, but it was pretty strange, and all taxpayer funded.
Chris actually had to WORK in school this week; the kids demanded he actually do something.
Don't worry... they've learned their lesson and won't do that again.
