Let me be the first to admit to raised eyebrows at his final round today; I was impressed. He rose from barely making the cut to second place, almost wholly on his efforts today. It was, in fact, his best round ever as a pro - and that's saying something.

Still, one round out of four wasn't enough and it shouldn't be.

Three cheers for the new World #1 Golfer: Rory McIlroy. And singular kudos to Tom Gillis for standing over what he had to know was a $150,000 putt on the 18th - and making it!
That has been the story of Tiger for the last two years, one great round, 2 ordinary ones and one crappy one.
Yeah a really big cheer for Gillis. That 2nd place tie really helped make a defeated man whole. His family should be proud!!

As for Tiger, I believe what we watched today was the real Tiger of yesteryear. He was back in his Sunday red and dark black shoes doing what he does best. Playing the game the way he used too and with the confidence required to carry onto the next week. I see him doing very well at Doral and Augusta. The eye of the tiger was evident today.

Rory---we'll see. But congrats to that young man because he did not buckle under the pressure of a hungry oncoming Tiger.
Ever since Jack Nicklaus, I've admired only a few other golfers. Raymond Floyd & Phil Mickelson top that list.
Hmmm, I thought he (or his money) only impressed white whor, uh chicks.
In spite of his current woes, he dominated pro golf - and golfers - for years. I'll give credit where due.

And that's exactly the point.. ONE round won't win ya a tourny.. EVERY golfer on the tour can (and will) have one mind-blowing round.. But it takes consistency to get to the top.. And old Woodsie-boy ain't there anymore.. Davis Love shot a 64 - and look where he ended up; tied for 21st..

Then note Rory's scores - 66,67,66,69...That's consistency - and he's only going to get better..

This kid is the real deal - and a hearty congrats to him also for attaining that spot in such a relatively short period of time..
