Look. We got just about half the votes for president. Actually, nothing has changed. Obama is still president--with fewer votes than in 2008. The House is still solid Republican. The Republicans screwed up the Senate only because of the incredible ineptitude of their Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Stop blaming everything on the Mexicans. Most Mexican American citizens are socially conservative, have religious and family values, and are reasonably capitalistic. They are OUR kind of people. So stop bashing them. I don't mean the illegals who don't vote anyway. Actually, their numbers have declined because the economy has caused some of them to return to Mexico. The Republicans should convert the Mexicans.

Is that so hard to think about? I remember the solid (Democratic) South!!

Same with the blacks. Yes, there are a lot of black welfare bums. But how many are decent people like us? 30%, 50%, 90%? Whatever the number, it's enough to have turned the election toward Romney. (Besides, are 90% of whites decent people?)

And stop the gay-bashing. Do you know any gays? I do. Most of them are pretty nice people. Who cares if a state recognizes a gay civil union as marriage? Hell, marriage within a religion, which is different, still requires both sexes. And heterosexual marriage itself is getting pretty tattered with all the divorces now.

We've got a lot in common with most of the people in all these groups.

Now as for us "righteous" upstanding white American middle class people, did you know that 3,000,000 fewer REGISTERED REPUBLICANS voted for Romney than had voted for McCain? That would have been enough to turn the race.

Rich white guys? Did you know that a poll at the Harvard Business School, the "West Point of Capitalism" that turns out all these Wall Street types including Mitt Romney, was 65% for Obama!!! 65%!!

The Republicans need to go there and ask them why. That should be their first stop. Then they can ask the Mexicans. Hell, their own Mexican politicians can ask the other Mexicans.

You ain't a gonna get votes by calling the voters "beaners."

Did the Republicans turn the "solid South" around by calling people "redneck hillbillies?"

And abortion? I'm sorry. I don't like it any more than the rest of you but any damned idiot who brays about pregnancy from rape being a gift from God, or claims that a woman can prevent pregnancy from rape by willing it so, had no business being in my political party, let alone the US Senate.

So let's stop wailing and get to work. Dammit, we're almost there.

Note: I am not suggesting we change our principles but that we reach out to the people who, increasingly, will determine the outcomes and show them why they are better off voting conservative.

And Romney ran a damned poor campaign. Let's face it. G.W. Bush was a pretty incompetent president (I voted for him too) but Romney never told the voters how he would differ.

And this talk of relocating to another country is just foolish drivel. Let's get to work.
A lot to agree with there.
RIGHT ON! RIGHT ON!

I know conservative homosexuals that get tired of being painted as bad people. Many of them are highly educated, have their own businesses, contribute to community charities which includes many Christian charities.

The same can be said of women, blacks, Hispanics, and yes even us evil libertarians. Enough is enough. If the Republicans want our votes then let them earned those votes.
In this world, there are pessimists, optimists, and realists. I'm a factual realist. The fact is, this country as we knew is it over. We will not win another presidential election. Live, or die with it.

Are we now appointing dictators for life now? What do you mean we will never win another election? I assume you mean for president.
Hear, hear!!!!

(The unspoken 'dummy phrase' this election was, "It's the demographics, Stupid!")
Bravo!
Indyca35;; Very good and truthful post.

I know many Mexicans and I agree that most Mexicans are hard working decent people. However most of them are voted Democrat because Democrats turn a blind eye to illegal immigration where Republicans don't.

I too remember the old Democrat South, just like I remember a California that voted for Bush, Regan, and Nixon. Unfortunately there are too many states hell bent on becoming California. The 3 million Republicans who stayed home would only have changed the outcome if they were in specific states. I haven't read what states these folks are from, but they would have had to have been fairly localized in a few states for any difference to have been made.

The South turned red because the old Blue Dog Democrats were fairly socially conservative, and when the Democrats at the national level went left on social issues the southeren Blue Dog Democrats no longer related to them.

The demographics are shifting farther left with every election cycle. I don't know how you see this as being "almost there."

Romney and Bush ran on a fairly similar value system, which is at the core of the Republican party. I wasn't infatuated with Romney, but for the most part I supported him because the issues he ran on were Conservative issues. These core values were rejected by the majority of voters. This is the game changer.

Look at the number of states that voted for Bush Sr., Regan, and Nixon. Is there any imaginable Republican candidate that you could see winning many of these states today? The answer is no, and we cannot always take it to the final day in battleground states in order to win. If we are depending on eeking out small marginal victories, which is the best I can see us doing, then we are done, especially when you consider the dhifting demographics.

There's a lot to agree with in your post but you're dead wrong on this ...

So let's stop wailing and get to work. Dammit, we're almost there.

beaner, beaner, beaner.

I had to establish my position as one of those old angry white guys.

I am not about to roll over and become a democrat, lite, sorry, it ain't gonna happen.
When all the sugar titters wake up one day and realize the world has really changed, let them ask their party for help.

Kind of like the guy on staten island yesterday whining that he hadn't seen a fema or red cross truck for a week, and was wondering where the "free food" was. He lives in a blue state, he can ask the annointed one.
Oh, by the way, was talking to one of my old time friends/clients yesterday, she is gayer than a three dollar bill.
Never enters into the equation.

Oh, beaner, beaner, they are in my family, dang little beaners.
Wait a minute, i live on pinto beans too, i guess that makes me a beaner.

But one of the reasons given for Obama's victory was how he solved the problems for the storm ravaged folks uo there?
A couple of you guys disagreed with my statement about "we're almost there." I can see your point but here's mine.

Well, Romney got 48% of the votes. That's a helluva lot more than Goldwater got in 1964 where they were also writing about the death of the Republican party.

Dang it!! We got 30 governorships out of 50 in 2012. So let's go.

We have to rattle the Republicans' cage. Start by communicating with any prominent one you know. First, get a prominent and competent chairman. Who was Reince Priebus? Sounds like a form of acne.

Their Senate campaign was a disgrace, so bad that the DEMOCRATS gave $1.5MM to a Republican to win a primary because they knew he would make an ass out of himself and lose the election.

Go to your college if you're a graduate. Ask them what you have to do to get the Republicans a fair shot in explaining things to the young skulls full of mush.

Find a college professor, a Jew, or a newspaper reporter, and tell them you'd like to sit down quietly and understand why they always vote Democrat. We might learn something.

And quietly boycott things. Don't watch ABC, NBC, CBS, or MSNBC no matter what. Don't go to any movies made by Spielberg or any concerts with...you know the names. Don't buy a GM car or a Chrysler. Don't buy anything that says GE on it.

This is a time to stand.

As with most things in life it starts at home and that seems to be were the failures have come from.
Where to begin?

You frame every argument just like a liberal Democrat. We lost because "we" hate Mexicans, Gays, and women.

If we would just sit down and learn about the other side all of us together could sit around the campfire and sing kum-ba-ya.

I say that's all bunk, we have a large and growing dependent class, of all races, whose main concern is to keep the money and benefits flowing.

The problem going forward on the Republican side is between those who have conservative values and those who have libertarian values. You can see it here on the Campfire. Those who oppose gay marriage and abortion turned off women and gay voters blah! blah! blah!

The growing secularism of the country does not bode well going forward, as socialism and secularism go hand in hand.

There it is.
Also he doesn't explain how we overcome 108% turnout with 100% of those votes going to Obama. It's impossible to win in that type of environment.
I understand what you are saying and in a perfect world it makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect work and I believe the election compounded by everything else has made most Whites hit a breaking point.

After being told that everyone comes before us, that we cannot celebrate or be proud of our heritage, that we have all had a silver spoon in our mouth because of our skin color. Its old and people are upset.

All I heard this election was about race as in skin color. Blacks this, Whites this, Latinos this ect. Why was it all about race? America no longer has its own identity and I am sick of having to listen to how I "have" to accept muslims, gays, blacks, mexicans ect. No one would care but people screaming about their heritage over others makes people resist the idea and causes resentment.

I love this country and am embarrassed and disappointed. I don't hate anyone based on skin color but do hate them based on actions!

WRONG! Wrong ! Wrong !
A lot has changed! We have a lying, vindictive, socialist POS as President who is a devout fan of communism & a closet Muslim. He has done more damage to our once great Country in the last 4 years than all previous Presidents combined ! He has single handedly led our National debt into to the brink of no return. He has created an economic depression that will soon make the Great Depression of the 1930's look like a friggin cake walk. He has now created a race & class war that has permanently devided our country by using class warfare to turn voters against any opponent or anyone whom opposes him or his ideas! He flat out lied his ass off though out the campaign, with no remorse what so ever!

You say nothing has changed? When the stock market crashes, you lose your job & business, & your bank account is empty after 4 more years of this wanna be dictator, then you can remind us all again how "nothing has changed"

Make no mistake, my friend, America is at War. A Financial, Economic, & Religious war to save our Nation from what damage Bammer, Biden, & Pelosi have allready done! Damage that is probably all ready irreversible! Damage that is yet to come.... So nothing's changed???

And as for the Illegal Mexicans. Please show me one plausible study that shows that they are Returning to Mexico? Open your eyes and look around! Apparently, you've never been to Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, or Californification! Open your eyes & look around! We ARE the "Minority!!!
Have you been to the E.R. Lately? Good luck on seeing a Doc. In the ER if your really really sick & need one! You will wait at least 10 hours in any major hospital in the USA, unless your having a heart attack in the waiting room! And you will wait because all the illegal Mexicans are at the ER getting free treatment for their kids runny nose or their Illegal Grandma has a cold or the Flu!
And They are all there because they have no health care & because the POS in the whitehouse is Not going to deport them, or tax them, & will give them free health care, feed them with food stamps & educate their children for free in our all ready failing public school systems that are overrun & over crowded by "Illegals!

And By the way, when was the last time that you were put on hold on the phone while calling the Phone Company or your Local Bank? You can bet your sweet ass that the recorded voice message said "press one for Spanish, in Spanish!!!

And as for your first statement, "We got just about half the votes for president" ? That just goes to show me that half of our population whether it be Mexican, Black, or White, are a bunch of frickin moral retards!
Most People no longer have Values, Morals, or Integrity! Thats what's wrong with our Nation, today! Plain & Simple!
Too damn many souless bleeding heart liberal idiots, totally devoid of any Character or Morals! A bunch of blind sheep being led to the slaughter by the Antichrist !

Yep! Right. Nothing's changed.... mad Maybe you should move to another country, or maybe just Planet Reallity!

EXACTLY. There are those that would paint me as 'negative' about this country.. Wrong word. I'm a pragmatist (or as you stated, a realist)..

I'm not blind. I can see where this is going. And it IS OVER for us conservatives.. OVER.. And if you don't think so, just wait till 2016 when yet another damn Dem gets into the Oval Office.. The stupid-azzed GOP keeps trotting out the same old tired "idols" that they feel is the next Reagan..

Please..

Christie? Ryan? Rubio? Portman? Is that all ya got?? They'll just find another nameless Santa Claus who lies and promises presentos for every peasant and PRESTO = President Claus II..

Y'all can dream of recapturing a conservative gov't.. Wake up - and you'll find the nightmare is REAL...

There's much truth to what Redneck said, especially if the Republicans choose to keep doing and thinking the same old thing that continues to get them beat!

2. ...and THAT'S not the way to endear yourself to the people that are more and more going to be determining the outcome of Presidential elections in this country!

Dannyboy -Esox357 -Chlinstructor -Redneck VERY good posts !!
Sorry dude, but if you look at this electoral map of Texas and see how close the state is to becoming a blue state, it is the mexicans that are causing it. Its not a secret, I'll give you a hint......those countys closest to Mexico........are predominately mexican.

All this wailing is stupid?

Well, we just found out this nation has cancer.

And it is stage 4 terminal. And it won"t end painlessly.
See the post by chlinstructor & then the description of the GOP as an apocalyptic cult in the Washington Post (article by N. Ornstein & T. Mann). It rings true. Here in LA we had a sign by the interstate saying that Barack Obama was the anti-christ. Laughed like hell at first, but actually pretty sad.
The majority is right of center. The right of center would win almost any election if it were processed like local elections where everyone votes on candidates from the whole field, then a run-off held if needed.

Our system is set up to be bought by running year and a half primaries where money is needed to survive and extreme right and extreme left are unhappy about candidates for the middle.

If extreme ideas such as (no morning after pill for rape victims) were not relished by a small few, a republican reasonable candidate would always win every election.

And this is how the Republicans can again become relevant!
Someone said no democracy has ever lasted 250yrs.. This one won't either. When ya all quit crying about these phony elections (which are now just auctions) and grow some balls, as someone else said, wake me for the revolution.
The republicans can become relevant by putting getting elected over what's good for the country. They can promise to steal from those who work and give it to those who don't. They can get elected if they give away free cadillacs. Hey, that would really help GM. I bet even the Jewnited Auto Workers would vote Republican then.
Now that you guys are mostly irate at me, I gotta tell you: I agree with most of you, even chlinstructor.

But the point is, what are we gonna do about it?

We just nominated arguably the best candidate since Reagan and lost. But he didn't lose by much, even though he ran a milque-toast campaign. How come he didn't know (after funning in 2008) that nowadays you've gotta release your tax returns?

The Romney ground campaign here in Cuyahoga County, Ohio (Cleveland), was about the most inept thing I've seen. I know. I participated. In the last week, some of "our" guys, like Dick Morris and the head of the Tea Party, were explaining how it would be a Romney landslide. Shows how ridiculously out of touch they were. They even said Pennsylvania was tipping to Romney. I know. I sent money to help tip it.

So you don't like what I say? Well, I don't like a lot of it either. But, chlinstructor and everyone else, what is YOUR solution. You can't just get to be a smaller minority every year.

And nobody suggests we out-giveaway the Libs. We tell some of their voters why it's in their interest to adapt some of our ideas.

And what's all this about losing hope? We're in a lot better shape--and I mean a LOT better--than after 2008. If this worthless bum screws up the economy as badly during the next four years as in the last four, and we take just a few lessons from 2012, we'll have him.

And he won't be able to blame everything on Bush.

Oh. Just one more thing. I don't appreciate terms like "Jewnited Auto Workers," eyeball. Two of my family members were staunch Republicans and Christians who were in the UAW. And as for the Jews, the Israeli Air Force is right now the only thing standing between you and a nuclear Iran. Hussein (quaint name, that) is trying to throw them under the bus. If it comes to that, I stand with Israel, not Hussein.

What part of "illegal" don't you understand Indy?

Those words gave me some hope for my kids and grandkids. It was just such a huge kick in the nads to witness this country vote it an admitted socialist/redistributionist. I just hope he doesnt put laws and judges into place that destroy the core of this nation.

I guess I don't understand your question, 700LH.

I understand it's illegal to give hundreds of guns to Mexican drug cartels and get 300 people, including some Americans, killed.

When Obama asked for help, the Navy Seals went and killed bin Laden. When the Seals asked for help in Benghazi, Obama let them twist in the wind. If that's not illegal, it should be.

I understand that breaking immigration laws is illegal. But you don't enforce them by denouncing someone's aunt and uncle. After all, they don't want to live under a government run by Mexicans, just like we don't. You enforce the laws by fining employers for breaking them.

Unfortunately, some of the things that disgust me the most ARE legal. Basically, the whole DEPENDOCRACY. But the only way to change them is to get 50.01% of the vote. That's why I think we should concentrate on getting the vote. We don't have to try to out-democrat the libs. We just have to convince about 2% more that we're better.

And we can't wait until September, 2016, to start like Romney did in Ohio this time.
For a democracy or representative republic to survive requires two fundamentals. First, the majority of voters must share the same core values, morals and ethics. Secondly, the majority of the voters by a wide margin must be producers (paying taxes) and not users (living off taxes). That's why the USA, as originally envisioned, is on the brink of collapse. The idea of "a great melting pot" has never been a reality, but at it's core the country as a whole was on the same page. Fundamentally, as a nation, we are more divided today than at the time of the Civil War. I think it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
How do you convince people that are so, and I'll be polite here, uninformed, that voting for Romney was going to set back womens rights 100 years? Or that he hated all minorities?

Or one person that told me, Obama not only saved America from complete financial meltdown, but the whole world. Or have never heard the word Benghazi. Or think Israel is the total reason there are any conflicts at all in the Middle East?

Or as one was asked if they were better off under 4 years of Obama, with the 16 trillion dollar debt, etc. Their answer, yes because gays can now serve in the military. Did not care or was worried in the slightest about our economic future.

As far as illegal immigration, if ends justify the means in your life, they will always be that way. If I'm lying to you, you can rest assured that I'm lying to everyone else. If I break laws to get into America I will surely break more laws after I'm here.

Are we a country of laws or not?
Apperently in many eyes not.
The weakness in all this arguments is that the majority of you don't vote. You have a million 'solutions' and even more complaints, but you don't vote.

You make up excuses for not doing it or you pretend you did, but you didn't.

But 6 in 10 of you, minimum, did not vote. And it is even higher in here, with the admitted not voters. And even higher because complainers are not doers and this room is full of complainers. And it is the Jews, the unions, the unemployeed (that is a good one, since I know lot of unemployed that are only interested in going back to work), the lazy (ok it is the lazy, just looking at the wrong person).

The election result is not the preferred, oh well, too bad, so sad, but time to move on to the next election set, to make sure senators and congressmen do understand what is important and mitigation of the worse things that will come up over the next four years.

Next time go and vote. Write your congressman and senators on what is important (and don't do it like the nonsense you post in here).

Mexicans built what Mexico is, let them clean up their own back yard, not come here and chit in ours.
Which is exactly what is happening, most of those folks are not coming to America to be Americans they are coming to America as displaced Mexicans and bringing Mexico with them.

BTW I vote, one vote of which was for a person of Hispanic ancestry, many of my Friends growing up were of the same. They were Americans not displaced Mexicans.

I guess some poor person from anywhere world wide, that works their azz off to get an education, waits in long lines to "come to America", or sneaks in legal or not but now here, should then be allowed to bring all their relatives legal or not?

Are Mexicans special?
WTF is wrong with this picture?

IndyCA33: A voice of reason. That will not be listened to by enough of the party to make a difference. And by the way, the solid Democratic south became Republican because...LBJ signed civil rights legislation. Haters gonna hate.

Is that really all you got? The reason you voted for obama is simple...envy. You want for free what others have worked for grin

Got this from a friend of mine:

I am finding inner peace after this election by just realizing that, as a 71 year-old mostly retired but successful businessman, the young people are entitled to socialism if they want it.

Our generation rejected it and built good lives for our families within the free enterprise system. We fought several wars and rejected crazy left wing ideas, but I think we may have given our children too much that they didn't have to work very hard for. We thus set-up a system where they actually believe that you can get things for nothing.

The young people will experience socialism for themselves, just as two generations of Europeans have since 1945. Getting lots of "stuff" for nothing (or apparently for nothing), breeds contempt for the "fools" who are still willing to go out and build businesses and work for a living.

We will probably not be around when the wheels fall off the goody-wagon, but the young people will have to deal with it the same way a younger generation of Europeans is dealing with the end to free stuff and the realization that only hard work can yield good results. Don't fret, we did our part and cannot change the course of the USA at this point. Cheer-up - it could be worse."

...I find myself in agreement: I think maybe all our Conservative legislators should just vote Present on every single freaking Obama administration bill that comes up in the next 4 years, and let the pieces fall where they may.

It shouldnt take long for the whole friggin mess to collapse, but the administration wont be able to blame any of it on "obstructionist" republicans or conservatives.

As someone once said You have the government you deserve."
And the Socialist/Dems deserve this one in spades. Let em own it. When the "free" food, housing, medical care, etc. runs out, as it inevitably will, maybe they'll come to their senses. If not... they have only themselves to blame.

IMO, the GOP made a calculated risk when they pushed social/religious ideals that they knew were not gonna get majority support. they apparently thought people hated Obama enough to swallow the social agenda. if they would have stuck to the smaller govt./fiscal responsibilty message, it would have turned out much different.

Exit Poll: percentage of Obama voters who believe that Republicans want to BAN birth control pills -> 62%.

The left did a good job of getting their lies out.
Look at the map that shows every county of the country, and which ones went red or blue. Basically a handful of areas determined the election results. You will never get these counties to vote Republican. The only real strategy Republicans have is to win every possible voter they can in swing states by getting huge voter turn out. If this stategy is successful they can win, but even then it will be a fairly tight victory. However, a blatantly biased media and Hollywood celebrites make this very difficult, especially considering the Dancing with the Stars and welfare mentality of many Americans today.

The problem is that in order to win Republicans have to have an unbelievable good candidate who performs an exemplary job campaining, and even then this candidate will win by the slimmest of margins. The Democrats do not have to perform at this level to win. They can have a weak sub-par candidate and still win. So, a marginal Democrat candidate usually will usually beat good Republican candiate.

Conclusion: Republicans can win, though it will not be often or by large margins, and an occassional victory by the smallest of margins will not bring the country back to the center, let alone to the right, and Rebublicans will continue to lose ground over time.

And eventually, in order to become more competitive, Reublicans will embrace many ideas that are currently liberal ideas. They will start with social issues, but this won't be enough to draw very many from the Democrat party, so they will eventually embrace many fiscal ideas of the Democrat party as well. When that occurs the Reblican party will truly be gone. Democrats will have won, game, set, match!
Also, think how far left our country has moved socially.

15 years ago the best Clinton could get was don't ask don't tell. Today we have states that have passed laws allowing gay marriage. Many of you on this site support gay marriage. Did you 15 years ago?

In the early 90's Hillary Care was overwhelmingly routed. Today, we have Obamacare, and I think most see complete nationalized health care as inevitable.
