Still the most powerful and richest nation the world has ever seen.
Plenty of troublesome issues.
Tons of innovation.

Less outwardly religious.
Still the best choice if you could choose where your kids and grandkids were born. No better gift for any child than to be born as an American.
Lots of hand-wringing and bitching over its present condition and predictions of its imminent demise by people who have it quite good.

What did Orwell call it? Oceana? That.
A country can't survive without its people being responsible, decent and honest.

This was the country based on govt being subservient to the people. When did this country become another with the same name. We are subservant to the govt and owned by it lock, stock and barrel. We are to serve and survive at our govts pleasure. Some are used by working and paying and others by voting for them to do so.
In this country now, bums buy food with enter cards and beer and bottled water with cash. Our govt is supporting our enemies with our tax dollars.
It controls which drugs get to market and to us. It lies and says all will pay for their free health care. It can't afford the medical care or retirement of the elderly and is turning the youth against the old as happened in China.

This is not the UNITED STATES any more. It is the shanghied states. It has been shanghied by forces dedicated to the destruction of this country as we know sit-up from loss of our borders to Democratic subversion of our ideals by essentially uncontrolled immigration and a March to having us subservient to the United Nations.
Well,...let's see.

If one wants to ponder the future of a country which
has a government that's running trillion dollar annual deficits, it's not necessary to look 100 years to the future.

5 years is enough to look forward.

Past that is probably a waste of time.

When a planned calamity is orchestrated and food supplies are interrupted the SHTF as in the great potato famine- a time of the greatest potato crops ever saw the greatest human starvation.
We have no control in maintaining the prerequisites that not only made this nation great, but allowed it to survive. We, I fear, are soon to start the time biblically referred to as the Tribulation. We are soon to see that those in power really don't care too much for us.
I believe it will be extremely Biblical by 100 years. Admitting that I am not that versed in post Appolicic events.

Till then, there is a certain horror in reading Phoenix Rising and The Hunger Games.
China as the military and economic superpower and the US, Australia, and Canada on par with today's European nations.
Ain't a gonna matter nohow, worlds gonna end in eight days
To me, I suspect it will look dark - earth tones, but dark. Maybe a few roots of daisies that will need pushing...

What woods? There ain't gonna be no stinkin' woods.
No pissin' or moanin' here - just a lot of concern and inability to come up with your answer. However, looks like past is not prologue on the big factors.
"How do you envision this country in 100 years from now?"

Lots of Romans said the same thing.
since change is a constant, and no society/civilization lasts indefinitely, i doubt the america we know today will be anything close in 100 years. with technology and innovation being what they are, what we will look like is almost unimaginable.
alot like 'mad max' without the bad costumes. the lights went out in rome too. this big mess is not exempt, no matter how special anybody thinks we may still be. round up your ammo & bottled water.
I'm glad that I will not be here. I hate it for any potential grandkids. What a mess this place will be. Invasion of the urbanites, rag heads, mexicans, and communitsts.
Back in the 1960 it was the Soviet Union that would end up ruling the roost, in the 1970's and 80's its was suppose to be Japan, in the 21st century its the Chinese and the Muslims. What America will be like a hundred years from now, well different in some ways as it is today vs 1913. To many ever since the founding of the Nation has predicted our demise. They have all pretty much gone by the wayside and we are still here. Heck 5 years ago I said I would never use a phone to surf the net, Now I do. I am going to turn 58 in a few weeks, I will not see 2030 let along 2112. The only thing you can expect is change, nobody knows what the change will look like just like in 1913 they had no idea what 2013 would look like. Airplanes back then could barely fly, now you can load 500+ on them and fly non stop from NY to Tokyo. It will be interesting to say the least.
Amen...Cicero was right.

Yeah, true, the pendulum does swing but unfortunately, after 100 years of socialist influence and a SCOTUS that is about to be majority socialist, the pivot point of the pendulum has been shifted so far left that even when it swings back to the right next time it is going to be left of center.

We lost the country by paying for people to breed and by opening our borders. It's over. It'll never be the same.

Like Detroit. Dark and crumbling.

The question does require some deep thought though. Made think if the Indians ever asked each other that while sitting around in a teepee.
It still will be a thrill to be hunting when the sun comes up & nature comes alive. Being on a lake or river as the sun peaks over the horizon with fish breaking the surface will still show the glory of our creator. A new born baby will still bring joy to our hearts. Sharing a warm fire with friends & sipping fine whiskey will still be a joy. There will be one or more major wars probably starting in the Middle East. A warrior class of men (& some women) will develop whose family has a long record of serving in the military. Only a small number of Americans will own guns, hunt, & fish. America will be recovering from internal strife & civil war not seen since our Civil War. Electric power will be generated with wind, solar, & safe nuclear reactors. The average life span will be at least 150 years. Many countries will have traveled to the moon & beyond. Interplanetary space travel will exist with a new magnetic energy source & Worn Holes will become a reality. Someone will read in a book about the roaring 1980's in America & what a great place it was to live in then.

A lot can and will happen during the next hundred years; therefore it is impossible to make anything but guesses and scenarios.

Nevertheless the possibility that the USA will disappear is definitely on the cards, another is a complete overall and recovery based on sound values like those the Republic was founded on.
My thoughts...

Just a WAG, but I'm thinkin' the Bible will be replaced by the Quran - and not necessarily by free will...
Who knows? I certainly don't.

If we prove ourselves to be a wise and moral people able to choose wise and moral leaders, we have a decent chance to survive, prosper, and maintain a leading position in the world. If not, we will likely end up on the scrap heap of history.

History provides the lessons.

I can't define moral, except to look toward the commonalities in the world's great philosophical and religious systems. The Ten Commandments come to mind.

first off, Brent is correct. what trees?

the USA was a product of the times in which it found itself developing inside the constraints of the larger world.

30 years is a long time to plan forward. if changes continue at the rate they have in the last five years, 30 more is about all that can be expected.

the USA is a sub-component like all other Nations on Earth. so go they, so go we as we lockstep into the future.

a new breakthrough tecnology, or disovery of vast new gold mine in the Antartica could mean a chicken in every pot far into the future. and we'll all be speaking Mandarin Chinese as a primary or secondary language.
The obomination of desolation sits at the head of the house of Israel. The country named Israel, the house of Judah, has had its last ally, the US, turn its back on Gods chosen.
United States of Amerika.
China won't rule the world. They have no women. Product of their one child mandates. Their culture will crash because of it. Throw in that they have no energy resources, they have no chance of ruling the world.

Muslims will brown out Europe as the 2nd Dark Age sets in over there.

Eastern Canada and Vancouver will look similar. Hockey will be found in violation of Sharia and banned for good. They might have already done it. Native Americans will own everything between Ontario and Vancouver.

The US will look more like Argentina. Still a chance at prosperity and a good life, but the government will be doing its best to screw people out of it.

Caucasian Americans will emigrate to Central America and live in the sun as they become a cultural majority.

Indians will continue to flock to America, buy big house but have no furniture in them.

Democrats will insist on taxing the rich even more, but due to 100 years of confiscatory taxation, the real wealthy have left for Belize forcing President Tariq Abdul Obama Jr. to declare that the threshold of "rich: is now anybody not on gov't assistance.

Spot on.
I'm not going to read all this but what country in 100 years.

No continental empire just many regional nations.
I fully expect the US will be broken up into 2-5 smaller nations. I expect China will have gone through some sort of civil war in that time, but reunited under some sort of new government and they will be an economic super power, maybe even military super power. I predict that Russia will probably be the military powerhouse in the world in 100 years.
the U.S and Canada,Britain,Australia...Pucked
The USA will no longer be the sole superpower.

It will still be a strong country - among many.

Democracy and education will continue to spread throughout the world.

Virtually all of the trouble caused by religious intolerance will be a distant memory - in a world grounded in science - rather than superstition.

Take a society - any society - and note - when more than half of the population becomes literate - and you then add one generation - so the new ideas can become grounded and accepted as the norm - the result will be democracy.

In the last 100 years - no two democracies have fought a war.

As more countries become literate - and democratic - peace will continue to spread - spawned by economic inter-dependence. Fewer wars are happening now - than any period in human history.

1000 years ago - there were dozens (if not hundreds) of wars going on in Europe alone.

Now, we see what literacy and democracy has brought there. Peace and inter-dependence.

The rest of the world will follow.

In time.
I couldn't give a dam because me and my children won't be around to see nothing but Blacks and Mexicans walking the street.
i have thought more than once about this individual thread today.

in further summary, the world will be flat, brutal, compettive, crowded, and hot.

the Chinese existed for thousands of years, and had top knotch civilization going on while a lot of our American ancestors were just emerging from the caves and deep forests.

further, we will come to depend much less on religion in another 100 years. we'll realize even if the Messiah does return, will have to keep the planet sustainable in the interim. we'll focus on developing and manifesting technolog with State support, and then diffusing it among the surving human as quickly as possible.

humans will have the right to live as long as they are productive. as soon as their productive capacity is over, well, you know. their bodies will be flash frozen, shipped to sea, and ground up to mainstain the flora and fauna until the Messiah returns. the fishes in the sea will flourish once again.after human population peaks in about 2050, it'll in constant decline until a point of long-run sustainability is achieved. even if the Messiah chooses not to return for another thousand years. guns will have long since been melted into plowshares, since the general populance can no longer be trusted as safe gun bearers.

we will be a long way towards saddling up, and once again becoming God's Assault Troops to further expand the human empire across the Cosmos in a mostly orderly fashion.
75 years in the past tense, maybe more.

Well said.
BC, when the obamanation has control of the world, tyranny will reign, and things will go to hell in a hand basket.

Attempts have previously been made in WW1 and WW2, but the forces of good ruling in Christian nations prevented it by the Grace of God.

Times have changed. We are led by those, like you, who lean unto their own understanding. We have turned away from God and will suffer the consequences. The gullible, like you, will give their all for free cell phones and EBT cards and fall like ripe fruits into the hands of the communists. As the general said, under the guise of socialism the people will succumb to communism. They have dedicated their lives to suckering in fools like you who are so willing to follow the pied pieper. The Jews in Germany refused to give up their riches and flee before it was too late for them.

God warns us of this in the Bible and tells us that those not in Him will be unable to comprehend His Word. Because of your unbelief He has sentenced you to making the same mistake of trusting your mind against those who will make you and yours to be slaves. When they get control, you won't have it nearly as good as they make it out to be.

There are many here who have escaped the dreaded misery of living under communism and without freedom. You won't even listen them telling us not to continue on this path to destruction presented by the liberal agenda.

You hold faith in our future as Europe when it is bankrupt and going under-held up by the hope Germany and the US will pull them through their financial crisis. All this while the US is more bankrupt than they, having about a hundred trillion in unfunded liabilities.

Grow up and quit believing in Santa Clause or Obama.

i thought Germany was a Christian Nation? sorry. you know, Germany, the LAND OF MANY JEWS?

sorry, did not mean to offend. but, it is what it is. without advancements in technology, which we have bet our very lives and lives of our descendents upon, we're pretty much dead in the water, but still floating, thankfully.

speaking of totalitarianism, ya better not find yourself being a young male under the dictatorship of Johnson, McNamara, and Westmoreland. they will issue an order to direct your sacrifice to on-coming fire, and their hierarchy down to the community level will support them in that order. young, weak, teenage males are at the mercy of the President currently in power.

Jesus f_cking H Christ Brian....I despair of you sometimes.
Actually, disease will be a problem.

Antibiotics will become ineffective, crowded conditions will breed viruses, and STD's will likely become swifter killers than AIDs. You sleep with an infected chick - you die in 4 months. That's right, the sex zombies will want to take you with them. They're dying, so will you.

Stay out of the bar scene in he 22nd Century. (Hmmm, good sci-fi book here..)

No Brian, this is NOT fact, it is PURE and UTTER wishful thinking.

You so-called "liberals" are incorrigible and always redefine words and reconstruct arguments as you see fit to give credence to your dreams or to your lies.

Did you not tell us that the USSR, China, North Vietnam, North Korea, were democratic countries? Did they not wage wars against their neighbors?

Did not Cuba, a democratic power by your standards, stimulate revolutionary movements in South-American countries?

Did not Russia and China also stimulate revolutionary movements and wars in Asia, Africa and South-America?

Did not China, Cambodia, the USSSR, the German Democratic Republic (RDA) and every other "democratic republic" wage war against their own people?

Recently a democratic country like the USA waged war against Irak, does that not count? Was it prevented by so-called democratic institutions?

Argentina, a democratic country and the United-Kingdom, another democratic power, did they not wage war against each other?

Hitler a socialist was democratically elected and for a long time he was Moscow's ally and the darling of the left, did he not invade Austria, Poland, etc... which were also democratic states, etc...

Stalin was considered a democrat by your ilk, did he not have 20 000 Polish officers and intellectuals summarily executed in the Katyn Forest? Did he not take control of the Baltic states and of half of Europe?

Were not Hungary, Poland and Tchekoslovakia all Democratic states by your standards and certainly by Kremlin standards invaded by the USSR long after WWII?

BC Brian, how can you write all those foolish things that are found in your posts and particularly in the last ones?

Your statement is wrong. The bitching and hand-wringing is being done by those who see us heading in the wrong direction. Having it "quite good" doesn't preclude one from trying to make things better or pointing out what should or shouldn't be done. You are using your statement to make the assertion that if you have it "good", you have no right to be complaining. Some here mistakingly call it "whining".

I for one have cut and pasted dozens of articles showing the errant pathway we are on. It is meant to educate and inform.
But it obviously didn't do much good.
We are on a pathway now to enjoy the irresponsible economic policies we have chosen. It'll be quite a "tough love" ride.

Are you nuts - or just retarded?

Hitler was democratically elected - but when WWII started he had dissolved parliament - and was an unopposed military dictator. Argentina was also a military dictatorship when the Falkland war was fought. And, where would you ever get the idea that - the USSR - or China - or Cuba - or North Vietnam - or North Korea - or Hungary - or Poland - or Czechoslovakia - were democratic countries? To state such - is beyond stupid!

The idiocy contained in your post - leaves me speechless.
We will export energy, technology and especially food. There will be little to fight about. Canada, Mexico and several Carrib countries will part of the North American Group.

White people will be in the minority, but no one will notice because race will not be an issue. Birth rates will continue to decline so that immigration will be encouraged from some desirable groups like people those that are well educated.

Militaries will still be important, but conflicts will be solved by unmanned drones and other robotics. A few pilots could be involved in a major conflict. There will be no on the ground army except to keep order after the machines are finished.

Rich people will vacation on other planets.
People will tend to be smaller and more frail from lack of exercise. Most people will rarely go outside.

Medicine will be able to replace many body parts as maintenance. The life expectancy will be 125 years old.
one giant welfare utopia

Most likely? A smoldering crater, or a supermetropolis.
Still fighting a civil war....
One or two generations and this nation will cease to exist in any recognizable form.

Likely in a deep pile of [bleep] & not much like it as we know it today.

I can't be optimistic given the racial makeup right now which is tending to go the wrong direction, & where the country seems to be going economically.
