Galaxy Quest with Tim "the tool man" as the lead actor. Hilarious in my book. After that one comes Weird Al Yankovic's classic 'UHF' CONAN THE LIBRARIAN! We Don't need no Stinkin Badgers! Too many funny lines in that one.
I own Galaxy Quest, been trying to find UHF for my, ahem.... library <G>
How dare some of you people classify Blazing Saddles as "cheesy"!!!! That is CLASSIC AMERICANA at its best and you need to show some respect! Now can I get a harrumph?
+1 on RED, that movie might as well feature my friends and me, as far as personalities go. and you couldn't have asked for a better mix of actors to do understated, downplayed violence. that film is an instant classic.
blazing saddles, whether cheese or not, is still in my top ten of all time.
post gun range cheese, would hafta go to rambo 4. nothing like getting home and smalling like gunpowder, popping that in the dvd player, tucking in a lip of backer, taking apart all my toys, and cleaning them, with a contented smile on my face, to the background of that level of mindless mayhem and cheese. a close second to that would naturally be shooter.
for midieval ass-whoopin' cheese, 13th warrior fills that niche.
and because i am one (of both), any movie that features a bitter, cynical, jaded, burned out cop, or a bitter, cynical, jaded, burned out soldier is gonna be a winner. something like the firstdie hard, or perhaps the general's daughter, although that last is a bit dark for standard cheese.
for all around awesome cheese, and currently holding most favored movie status, mr. and mrs. smith, which fits comedy, action, romance (cause pretty women with guns is both romantic and pornographic to me), and accurate in terms of how married life can feel at times.
The musical "Little Shop of Horrors" with Grammy Award winning music and superstars, like Steve Martin, Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene and other big stars.
Night of the Lepus, mainly because it wasn't intended to be cheesy or the spoof on the genre that it turned out to be.
I watched that when I was a lad....scared the living Christ out of me, mainly because I was young, from central Queensland and had never seen a rabbit.
They call me bruce Top Secret two from the 80's that were along the same lines as naked gun, airplane, etc... I also like Night at the Roxbury. Lastly, Tango and Cash was bad but good.
The Police Academy movies were a hoot too. Tackleberry always cracked me up.
I got to shoot a Celebrity Sporting Clays tournament with Leslie Easterbrook (Sgt. Callahan) as my partner (other round I had Irlene Mandrell for a partnerit was a good day). Leslie is a very serious shooter preferring the shotgun sports. She couldnt wait to show me her newly re-stocked Browning BT-99 where Wenig did a fitting, and then make new wood to fit her like a glove. I shot higher than Leslie, but not by much; shes a very good shot, and she shoots very regularly. Hering her call a bird was a treat, it was the Sgt. Callahan voice with a firm PULL!
me too ...but it aint cheese...its real....just look at the voters last month!!
It may be corny, but it's an important movie. It's full of symbolism for those that understand what they're looking at. Much deeper movie than most people think.
Zombieland, From Dusk til Dawn Kentucky Fried movie (Particularly the 'Fistful of Yen' segment) Down Periscope (Best fart scene on film, ever. The fart scene in Blazing Saddles, while classic, isn't even close) Shaun of the Dead Repo Man Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (Somebody pass the ketchup!) So I Married an Axe Murderer Any of the Austin Powers movies except Goldmember Pootie Tang
