How do y'all deal with these a-holes? I HATE getting telemarketing calls on a cell phone. I never used to get them when I was with AT&T but with Verizon I get a ton of them. I heard that Verizon might be selling the numbers to these telemarketers. Any truth to that? If so it will make my decision not to sign a new contract with them really easy

unfortunately, it's not just Verizon. All cell phones are subject to them now. Happened last year.
Do not call list for cell phones...

If you see a pattern you can either block the number on the Verizon web site or load the number into your phone and send calls directly to voice mail. They'll quit rather quickly.
Have you put your number on the "do not call list"? I cannot recall ever having a telemarketer on my cell phone, I put it on the list years ago.
Ditto.

The DNC list isn't permanent, you have to renew it every 5 years if I recall correctly. Also, certain unscrupulous websites will sell your info. I ordered one of those e-cig starter kits under a fictitious name, then immediately began getting all sorts of telemarketing calls asking for the person I signed up with, despite them telling me my info was confidential.
Even with my cell # on the DNC list, I get these annoying telemarketers.
I prefer to mess with them over the phone until they take my number off their lists.
Good idea; might as well enjoy it. Can't do that with the pre-recorded ones, though.

In the past I have always enjoyed messing with them but now that I have a 10 month old I just don't have time to mess with them and they call at the worst times

Just signed up for the do not call list
"Sir, please give me your name, the name of your company and a phone number where you can be reached, this number is on the Federal do-not-call list and my attorney will want the information." Never hear back from them at all. grin
I think they are using auto dialers calling every number to see what it hits. I have complained to the Do not call, checked, both the home wire and both cells are on. Last time I went to the Colorado do not call; they ask more questions, including the fact that being over 60 I am apparently in a special category.

I have asked for the info to sue, they hang up so quick; then the same call comes in from some other number.

Then you've had better luck with the Do Not Call list than I have.
Got one today and wondered what started that. Burial insurance.
Five years and nothing. Must be living on borrowed time.....?
Wife takes care of slime balls that climb through the system on our land line. They NEVER call again.
I simply do not answer calls if I cannot identify who is calling. If it's important they will leave a voicemail message. I can always add the number to my call blocker app if it's somebody that persists.

Here's an excellent way to deal with them:

I have had six cell phones for my business from various providers, for over 15 years, Go back before that to analog car phones.
We have been on the DNC list with the cells and the hardwired land lines forever.
We still get many telemarketers.
If a woman calls I ask her what color panties she is wearing today and take it from there.
You can't stop the calls . I think telemarketers use the DNC for their numbers.
May as well have some fun. If we have time we try to see how long we can keep them on the line.
