We have sunday brunch sometimes at a cafe on the tarmac of Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport. Which used to be Williams Field AFB. The Air Force, Navy, and Marines still use it as a pit stop for flights that train on the Barry M. Goldwater Gunnery Range nearby.

Last Saturday was spent with my son (my wife and daughter were having girl time). We took the truck down to the other end of the property so I could cut a little firewood. My son passed the time plinking cans with his BB gun.


I propped the boy up on my lap and let him "drive" the truck the 1/4 mile back to the house and up the driveway.. He was in Heaven over that.


Right now the wife, kids and I are enjoying the first day of what has become a Father's Day tradition-camping at Grand Marais along the shore for of Lake Superior. We lucked out this year and got a site with a great view.

Bees, beef, and some corn all taken in the last couple of weeks.

Making salad garnish hanging baskets. One cherry tomato, one yellow pear tomato, two salad size cucumbers, and two nasturtiums for edible flowers. Just hope they sell.

A few from last weeks five day Varmint Safari/Cast&Blast.

Sure glad my buddy was driving this day because we ran into some snow drifts that were impassible at this point and had to back down about a half mile to get turned around.


My young friend learning himself how to cast. He took to it like a natural.

The dogs even had a good time.

Sure had a good time even though my shooting sucked. I only get to see Allen a couple times a year and always enjoy his company.

Go with a large. Stay clear of all the egg knock offs that are out there now (Kamado Joe and Grill Dome are fine). BGE has a lifetime warranty and most of those other companies will not be in business 10 years from now. Besides that, I'm not eating a damn thing that came off anything made in the land of toxins and lead (China).

I've heard the Auber is a good unit, but I use the BBQ Guru Digi Q DX's. There's just too many KCBS brothers that use them to not be on board.

We've had two dens fulla kits in the coulee next to our place, and the parents have wiped all the gophers out of our yard. No archery practice for me this spring.. they are pretty fun to watch.

They're mesmerizing. I sat there for about 30 minutes.

Evening on a temporary lake outside of Roxby Downs, again, in the South Oz desert. Bloody cold in the swag that night! Zippers were iced up in the morning.

Not much here except rain. Here is a pic of a bunch of us in Shawano Co. Wisconsin, about 50 50 mi. west of Grenn Bay. Grandpa gave us 5 kids 26 ac and we all have our own campsights along the river.

Yesterday on my way to a small native community to preach a Father's Day service at the "Red Roof Church." 200 miles north of the Trans Canada highway through Northwestern Ontario. We saw lots of game, and the services went well, too.

All around a fun trip, even the 650 kilometer drive.

With the FIL in Hospice... CHF, at 90 yrs.. we are spending the spring watching him die. Since last December.A little more each day.
His bride of 57 years passed on April 27, 2013.

Kobacker hospice house in Columbus is great. Like a paneled resort.. for dying. But now they are sending him back home to waste away a little more.

It is so sad. He was the true southern gentleman. Now lost all dignity and privacy. Under 24 hour care by the worst paid angels I've ever known.
He gets so frustrated while trying to speak to us..
and all he gets are grunts.. ( his writing is worse )
I am trying to find a picture board or even an alphebet sign to help communicate with him....

Pray for his family.

You mention needing an alphabet board of some type. What about looking at the store in the toddler toys for those plastic letters with the magnets in them? Use a metal serving tray for a board, maybe?
