My good friend and I are always rollin our eyes at the cultural Christianity in our neck of the woods and he called this to my attention.

I love his other work too!

I had intended to PM it to Steelhead as I knew he'd enjoy it too but apparently he is ignoring me... I know there are many others here... Christian and not... Who'll enjoy this little diddy!

If the ocean was whiskey and I was a duck, id swim to the bottom and never come up.
Always get a kick out of this one.

We've seen Corb and the Hurtin' Albertans twice now - the last time maybe two months back in a small venue of 500 or so.

If you ever get the chance to see them and you like the videos/music then I'd say you'll love the live show.

A couple things about him you might not know - or then again might...

They have no play list - ever - Corb just responds to what he feels the audience is up for. He's got a bunch of hand signals worked out so the band knows what they're supposed to play next! laugh

The guitar/banjo/steel/mandolin player Grant Siemens does such a good job going from instrument to instrument that it's hard to wrap one's head around the fact they have no play list.

The last time we went, about half way through the concert they just stopped and started taking requests - it was great.

Lastly, Corb is a bit of a shooter and definitely a firearms enthusiast. One song speaks of a woman who carries a Schofield with a wildcatted load, it's a wad cutting bullet, for a blood letting wound... cool

Anyway although I've put this one up before, but here's for all the preppers out there.

He's into German motorcycles too and has 3 BMW's I believe.

Anyway, sorry to be effusive, but we're fans here and the boys from Alberta do put on a good show.

Regards,
Dwayne
Not a fan, but could very well be. Called my wife to come listen.
We enjoyed the music.

Thanks,

Wayne

Some ammo"

Always liked his Horse Doctor song and was going to post it, but can't find it on YouTube.

While I can't say when they'll be heading down to Texas next, I do know that they make it there pretty regularly - although whether they are anywhere close to your part of the state I can't say.

If you want to track their tour dates and such, here's a website for the band.

To bruinruin, here's the horse doctor talkin' blues for you sir.

This one's kinda dark I guess, but it was really quite moving live and struck home for me somehow.

Thanks for the interest in truly western Canadian music folks.

Dwayne

truly western Canadian music

......of a depth, span, and RICHNESS that has remained something of a "Best Kept Secret".

Don't want to hijack this great thread, maybe next Friday we should dig out the "oldies" and some of the newer Western Canadian Country and Folk yodels ?

Been a BIG fan of his for years!

Greg I'm genuinely happy to see that there is one thing we can unreservedly agree on!
I love Corb Lund. He is far better than anything that Nashville has produced in years.
Ha! I found it.

Well since we're up moving family today and not at work I'll throw up a couple "interesting ones" for you sir.

This one is poking a bit of fun at our Canuck gun laws, as we are quite restricted in how we can buy and sell pistols and revolvers ....unless they are made before somewhere in the 1890's AND be chambered for an "obsolete" cartridge.

So no .45 Colts or .44-40's - but .44 S&W Russian like in the song is just fine for trade goods. wink

This is the one about the woman who packs a Schofield....I'm sensing a top break Smith theme in this guy, aren't you?

All the best to you and yours today sir.

Regards,
Dwayne
I have seen Corb Lund and the Hurtin Albertans several times in Elko. He an original and his band can play anything. The last timne I talked to him it was about midnight at the Pioneer Bar. "Let's go get in trouble" were his parting words.

You can't mention Canadian western music without mentioning Ian Tyson in the same breath. Western music is the best music you will never hear on the radio.
I really like Corb Lund. He's no Ian Tyson, but still pretty darn good
