When the wind and waves allow the green water to come in to matagorda beach, we have been hammering the speckled trout and slot reds. My wife is now hooked and watches the beach cams/wave height indicators. What did i start! Its about time to catch some big bull reds for fun. Wife just made some blackened trout..way to delicious!

Nice trout!!

Love the surf, fished San Luis pass many times.

And one of my favorite times to fish is about to start! Great time of the year.
those are nice smacks also.
October is a confusing month for sportsman here...doves, deer, bass, saltwater inshore and offshore. Fantastic
..and early teal season starts next week so waterfowl season is kicking off too.

Spent many a September day killing teal in the morning and bass fishing soon as a limit was reached.
South Texas is a sportsman's heaven. I'm jealous!

Yep
we'll be building blinds next week.
I'm hoping to finish up our deer stands and lanes this week, then hit Rockport before deer season starts.
got deer blinds up, we're just adding a few more duck blinds, too hunt in the laguna. south of the JFK causeway.
It takes an effort to get away from our deer lease to hit the saltwater. East Texas rut starts around the 20th of Oct, maybe a little sooner, much earlier than y'alls. But, if we have more hot weather like last year early in Oct I'm fishing Rockport.
yeah i don't even get serious about deer till the second week of Dec. January I'll be at the cabin in the landcut, fishing and hunting ducks, deer and nilgia.

Our rut will be starting will be starting around end of sept. beginning of oct. in matagorda/wharton/lavaca county. It starts very early along the coast between victoria and houston! It would be nice to start in late dec. like it does in south texas, where it would be much cooler.
WOW!!...seems i'm missing out on some good times!!! good job at figuring them out... and getting on it!!! whats the saying ... a bad day fish'n is better than a good day at......
