A California city has decided that for at least one day, the flag of communist China will get equal time with the �Star-Spangled Banner� flying �o�er the land of the free.� Despite the objections of residents and human rights groups, the city council of San Leandro, Calif., decided in a 4-3 vote to fly the flag over its city hall Oct. 1 to honor �the formation of the sovereign state in 1949 by communist leader Mao Zedong,� the San Jose Mercury News reported. Councilman Benny Lee explained he wanted to provide a sign of support for the city�s Chinese residents and signal that the city is open for Chinese business and investments.

Well, perhaps the "residents and civil rights groups" who objected to the idiocy can get together and recall the Marxist Socialist inspired city council numbskulls, just as happened in Colorado recently.

In honor of Mao, maybe the citizens should open up a can of Cultural Revolution on the 4 council members.

I doubt there were many protesters. San Leandro is a crap hole.

I'm pretty sure that is a federal offense to put another countries flag over the stars and stripes, let alone in place of it. If I lived there or near there, I'd go take it down and bring some dog crap to anoint it with.

To bad a LARGE group of local citizens don't go and just take it down, then replace with the correct flag.

I would assume most of the Chinese that live in that town are descendants of those who risked life and limb to escape from Mao. Why would the free Chinese-Americans want to honor him anyway?
