I bet there are lots of farms with stashes like this over there. It sucks that they were caught.

Who writes this crap? Wonder if those rifles had recoil pads too?
Quote
As well as the Glock handguns, the haul contained military-style guns such as AK-47s, MP5 sub-machine guns and rifles featuring telescopic lenses.
The coppers would have kept the choicest pieces for themselves so there would be no 50 grand items there, and the rest are just sporting arms.
Typical cop grandstanding and media bias/stupidity.

And I would not take that bet.
gee, if the cops raided many a home in my home county, I bet they would find people who had that and more....

this is what happens when your rights are taken away by liberal leftist leaning communist governments...
Moron.
We just got rid of the left leaning pricks, and you are currently dealing with yours...but you are too insular and idiotic to pay attention.
I guess I am behind? Are the folks over limited as to the number of guns that they can own? Sounds messed up to me! With all the counrtyside there it would make a natural place to want to own guns of all configurations.
No we are not, but you need to have each and every firearm on your licence...it is ironic that you can own pretty much anything if you have the correct paperwork and funding to pay for it.

Which basically means that the rich bastards can have what they want and the working man gets it in the neck...the law works like that every time.

yup high powered guns .I see some 22s and an air pellet rifle.

Stewie...

I wasn't flaming Australia here.. contrary to some of the other forum members here, I look at OZ and its people in a very favorable light...

I was referring to leftist liberal commies all over the planet... not just in Oz...

and you don't have to tell me about the jackasses we have serving under our current administration...

I hated that SOB before he was elected the first time... the second time, was a wake up call to just how many dipschitts that this nation has among us...

my poor wife and son have to listen to me condemn this SOB 50 times a day....on a slow day...

so no malice or ill will was meant on my end...

I condemn liberal politicians, robbing people of their rights around the world... not nations and their citizens.. except the ones that support these commies and new world order types from around the world...

hope that clarifies that and my post for you sir...
Didn't Australia ban and confiscate pretty much all handguns, semi-automatic anything, and even pump actions some years ago?

Sea, the mistake was mine as I am currently being a pissy prick...my apologies.
no problem, no harm and no foul...

you have had a few pissing on Oz lately, so it was an honest mistake.. I easily assumed that you thought I was doing the same..

my own nation's government is a major embarrassment, but it doesn't mean every one of our citizens are screwed in the head...

same with OZ or any other nation...

glad we're square...

have a good one mate!
There was another lot found up near Cairns a few years ago , I think from memory ,a guy with a metal detector found the steel cover covered with dirt.
This lead to a bunker with a whole pile of guns.
There'd be a lot more up north as well I'd reckon
" high-caliber firearms"

WTH are these?

I think it is the media trying to portray a firearm as "high Caliber " So that people will think they are really dangerous or more powerful than normal.
Other terms include military calibre, military style, large capacity etc
Was before my time over here but I think the SKS and SKK came with a swap deal with China years ago under a labor govt
I stand to be corrected there
Given the same situation here, I would guess many of us would have a cache somewhere. Hadn't thought about somebody finding it with a metal detector.
Just as an exercise only, I would think that 110 mm stormwater pipe with screw caps and the desiccant packs found in the Harley Davidson motor cycle cylinders would suffice for long term storage, and planted straight down courtesy of a hand auger would prevent or inhibit such from being accessed by accident.

I wonder how long it was before the metal detector fellow had both knees broken?
I'll show my ignorance. I've heard the gun laws in New Zealand are less stringent. Meaning that you can own semi-auto rifles and pump shotguns.
Guns found in Oz? O-M-G! The horror......

We got too many people on the planet and over half are idiots. The gene pool desperately needs help. Go long on bleach.
That's what needs to happen. Unfortunately, most gun owners are too nice.

I know, and unfortunately so do the mongrels that push this rubbish...they are counting on it.

Ironic isn't it, the radicals that scream, yell, and cause problems are the anti firearm ownership mob, and the conservatives that just want to poke along and do their own thing without inference or impinging upon others are pro firearms ownership.
Gun owners are the same all over the World. I know it doesn't fool you when Americans say that what happened to you couldn't happen to us. Just look at California.

Send one here to piss on my property and I shall see if I can oblige you...or do you think you and all your mates have rights over my property?
Probably hoping the law would be changed someday and grandpa's .22 could be brought back into use. I fully understand how a person could stash favorites, and store friends favorite also. New Colorado law says I cannot store anyone elses guns without doing a background check. So much for having someone else safekeep something while out of country, or just getting a chance to shoot something different. Many moons ago I kept my BIL's Enfield, and his dad's shotgun while he deployed! Any chance the offenders were anything other than stable citizens; or were they recent immigrants with muslim backgrounds?

There are a few countries I would like to visit, and they are all ones that paralleled the US in exploration and development. I do not admire the treatment of indigenous people, but remember, they would have been absorbed or genocided by others, and they did not live in some paradise with no troubles and harmony between all. This sprobably comes in part from being raised on Davy Crockett and Gene Autry.

Dam,,,,, just as I was enjoying the fact that two adults could act civil to one another over a simple misunderstanding.
Should have known it couldn't stand around here.
I think you need to cool your mouthy jets.

WTF is wrong in your life, WTF is bugging you, it's pretty rude to take it out on the folks at this site, where you've been made more than welcome, Mister.

You are correct, I have been watching your country avidly, and a couple of things that astound me is the by-laws that prohibit the use of centrefires in some locales, and the requirement to purchase a licence for each head of game in some areas.
I am somewhat bemused by those that bemoan the loss of firearms in Australia and insist that it is because we are somehow "communist" and at the same time conveniently not noticing the absolutely draconian laws you have there in quite a lot of areas...to the point of gaoling some poor saps that have old magazines and some spare ammo.

Last I checked there is no problem owning firearms in any major city in Australia, and hopefully the laws will continue to be changed to the firearms owners benefit.

First up you loudmouthed ignorant prick, have the courtesy to post my posts in their entirety without cherry picking.
Secondly...what I do on my own property is absolutely none of your damn business.

Talk about a lefty thinking they have the right to interfere with someone else"s property rights.

You don't like the way I run my property then keep the hell away.

So, are you going to continue rewriting other peoples words to further your own ends?
I'm laughing at the math. That's almost $10,000 a gun, not including the ammo. I see pellet rifles, bolt actions, Enfields, an old SxS, A chinese copty of a winchester lever shotgun. Heck even the inset picture of the extra dagerous rifles shows the bottom 2 are old bolt guns with aftermarket evil plastic stocks.

I want to sell someone some glocks for $10,000 too.

So, slip back into your bottle and keep the heck away from my property...but I know that you think you have rights over the property of others, and like to misquote their posts as well.
It is typical copper arithmetic...every thing is inflated to make it seem as if they are actually doing something...it keeps people from thinking about the bikie gangs shooting people.
On the other hand it is possible the firearms have been stolen from the legal owners, which would mean that the coppers are actually doing their job.

It is 1.41am and my wife is in the next room hacking her lungs up with a miserable cold so I am not going to get any sleep for another 24 hours..at which point I am going to be very miserable company.

The bright point is that I gave it to her and am just getting over it myself.
What does whether they are stolen or not have to do with the math?

Kenny,

Has there been any discussion about how they intend to enforce this absurd law sans complete gun registration?

I gotta think someone with a chunk of cash burning a whole in their pocket and a desire to take on the liberal morons might make sure he gets picked up for a violation and then it'll be off to the Supreme Court to end this silliness.

Absolutely nothing, more as an observation that the story may not be what is reported...or actually may be, odder things have happened.

The lesson here for American gun owners is, "Don't keep all your firearms and ammo in one location."

How you arrange the toiletries on your property is your business and none of mine...yes, the rest is the same crap you come out with every time you attack someone.

I get some SERIOUS deja'Vu, looking at that proposed reg., and back to Canadian Federal B.S. in the late 1970s.

I'd be more than willing to bet that the creeps in Denver are using that same identical "FAC" blueprint.

I do not have to as mine are all legal, but if one ever decided to do such then it would up to them to dig when they want.

Laws and politics all eventually change.

You are right about that, it is not new and definitely not limited to local politicians, it is the same message and attack strategies they used here.

Yea,,,, I saw that thread.
I guess that since the thread started out civil I was just hoping it wouldn't go down that old familiar road but since J's decided not to be the bigger man and is fine with business as usual it's back to the peanut gallery for me.

Carry on.
I not that the newspaper article mentioned that "....and some of the guns had telescopic sights". Obviously the writer isn't familiar with firearms or he wouldn't find anything unusual about this. He made it sound as though this made the guns more scary.

Jim
They would never think of wanting a registry. I have never seen the actual law as written, but from the news I gather that I cannot give a gun to my old hunting pard; but can give it to my daughter, she to her husband, and he to his dad (the pard). I don't know how cousins figure into the mess.

There are supposedly no records kept from my previous purchases. Years back a pawn told me the police came in every week and looked over the sales to see where guns had gone.
Correct me if I am wrong, but that seems to be an incredibly convoluted way to make firearms owners life a misery, and is pointless to the point of absurdity.

Who in God's name comes up with this sort of dross.

Typical of our media, the need to attempt sensationalism is something they caught off your lot over there...no one just reports facts any more.
