After reading through "The Drugging of the American Boy" thread and article, I came across a link to this Mother Jones article about the history of market and media manipulation by the sugar industry. "Big Sugar's Sweet Little Lies"

http://www.motherjones.com/environment/2012/10/sugar-industry-lies-campaign

It then dawned on me that if an agribusiness like sugar and its lobbyists could pull something like this off, how much more capable would such an organization as the US pharmaceutical industry be capable of doing real harm to us in the interest of making a buck. IE, anti-deppressants that trigger violence, and mass murders, cholesterol-lowering medications that cause impotence (requiring more pills) and cause diabetes (fact). Where does this schidt end?

I just bought an interesting book at an airport, "Salt, Sugar, and Fat." All about the history of the processed food industry, how they formulate and market their products, and how they developed some of their biggest sellers like Tang and Sugar Frosted Flakes. Which are now just "Frosted Flakes." Good read.

When I was a kid, I put about a tablespoon full of sugar on my bowl of Sugar Frosted Flakes. Didn't think it was sweet enough unless I had a little milk-soaked sugar from the bottom in every spoonful. The idea is nauseating to me now.

Fluoride in the water, it all started there.

I've been fortunate never to have lived in an area with fluoridated water.

Kids are wired to crave sugar much more than adults, that was discussed in the book, and also, the processed food industry's methods of capitalizing on that.

Do you have city water?

My town doesn't use Fluoride in the water. Some Fluoride reps showed up at a town hall meeting several years back with a fancy presentation, and they were practically booed out of the place. Our water manager made a counter presentation on the harmful effects of Fluoride just because he had already prepared it, but no one even dared put it up for a vote.
That is very unusual for a water company, as I'm sure you know. I wish our's didn't.

Whenever I eat at a restaurant in Gainesville I can barely stand the smell and taste of the water they serve at the table. To those who have never regularly drank Fluoridated water, it smacks pretty strongly of the taste and smell. I always ask for club soda instead.

Two other books,in my parents library, that have dealt with the issue of sugar being a poison, are:

"Sugar Blues" by William Dufty.

"Lick That Sugar Habit" by Nancy Appleton.

My dad solved that problem by installing a Durastill.I've never drank anything but distilled water all of my life,so far.He even installed filters on all of the shower heads in our house,in order to remove chlorine and its by-product trihalomethanes.

I'd substitute beer in there somewhere.
