Very nice pics of a Mongolian girl and her golden eagle:

BBC news
Those were some great pictures!!!
Very cool. That bird is massive!
Yes, they're very cool. As is having your own golden eagle!
Beautiful pictures!!!

Looks to me to be much more adventuresome and rewarding than playing on an X-Box, Play Station, Game Cube, Smart Phone, etc. as many American kids seem to gravitate to these days.

The neighbors would "shat their pants" if they saw a kid toting an eagle around the block looking for a few rodents! I used to walk through my neighborhood with my grandfather's Auto-5 12 on my shoulder heading up to the local canyon for a morning grouse hunt... nobody ever batted an eyelash. I don't think my son has ever even shot his BB or pellet gun in the back yard... the starlings and sparrows just laugh at us now.

Hope modernization is better to the Mongolian young people than it has been to American youth, Native Americans, etc. Kind of hard to find a "one size fits all" for everyone I guess.

Once again, beautiful pictures... Thanks!
Spectacular photos!
Wow, that is cool! Thanks for posting the link.
Thank you for posting that, who wouldn't be impressed with a lass like that...it says a lot for the parents.

Picture #2 was absolutely breathtaking.

Never thought I'd see an eagle cuddle up to a young girl like that. Wow.

Thanks for sharing those
When I was there they let me hold this eagle. It was a young bird they had trained to take fox and planned to start on wolves soon. The wolves there were not as big as our timber wolves. The one I shot was the size of a large coyote. You may be able to tell from the photo that I had been told not to have eye contact.

This is Kyrgyzstan near the Chinese border at an old hot spring resort the Ruskies developed. No road, no one lives within miles and those people are nomadic herdsman.

At least that is where it landed.
Wouldn't USFW officials love to jail that girl.
I knew some falconers in the Ft. Worth area. They had a female red tail that was pretty sociable, and if you approached slowly, she enjoyed having her breast stroked. After a long day at a Renn faire, though, she got a little nippy smile
What awesome pictures! Thanks for sharing (you too Boise)!

So cool...we have a Golden Eagle hacking project where I used to live in Georgia...would see them soaring overhead and Lord have mercy, they were huge. Looked like a B52 overhead!
Those are great pictures thanks for sharing.
Thank you for that - such exquisite photography - and she looks like a lovely girl who seems really to enjoy working with her eagle as well as the other aspects of her life. Wow - if only every kid could experience something so wild and wonderful - and so close to the reality of nature.

We have some Goldens here, and they are fabulous birds. I love to watch them hunt - which they often do in pairs. Very effective.
Thanks for the link to the article.
Owner of the one I held and a better image of the bird:

Man that's one awesome looking critter.

Massive and tenacious birds. I've seen the wolf hunting vids and they truly blew my mind.
Great story and an impressive young woman!
*BUMP* looks like Utahlefty missed this thread. I came across this photo a few days ago...
400 psi!
