Solar City is a leasing company despite the name. Beyond that they are a publically traded (up 355% since IPO in December 2012) that has a fiduciary duty to their shareholders.
You may no like the arrangement (Section 1603 Cash Grants) but the fact remains the Feds shorted Solar City and given that Solar City has a fiduciary duty to their shareholders they are obligated to go after that money.
They won't go bankrupt over this the (article is nearly a year old) they're very good at leasing and they will continue to be. They've arranged over $4B in financing facilities.
So thanks to al gore and his groupies, the taxpayers give these solar companies land, pay the startup expenses, pay to install these systems on the hippies' roofs, give the hippies tax breaks for having solar systems on their roofs, then the solar companies send out any profits to their investors, and the taxpayers give the CEOs of these solar companies a big bonus for doing such a good job of running such a successful business. Did I miss anything?

If the CEOs don't get a big enough bonus they sue the taxpayers.

and this green technology is anything but.....hell of alot of strip mining and such goes into obtaining the materials for making the solar cells and i understand parts of the manufacturing aint to enviro friendly either....
This windmill and solar thing is pretty much a non starter with out the feds dumping tax money on this junk. There is a reason why we use coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear. It works you can put a plant pretty much any where you want and it dose so rain or shine, wind or no wind. Its to small a scale, Solar and Wind works ok on a small scale, but you still need a battery house and a gas or diesel generator to keep your lights on, if you are off grid. As soon as the tax money runs out the windmills become more or less abandon. Spain when hole hog on this crap and it bankrupted them. The reason it dos not work the way it needs to work in order to even be part of the mix.
yeah they can help with individual locations and building helping to reduce dependence on the grid.....no way in hell they can replace fossil fuels though.....only thing that can even remotely come close to replacing fossil fuel power plants at the moment is nuclear....
